I’ve always been a stairs guy. I feel more in control... I’ve seen too many movies where the elevator fails and spirals multiple floors to everyone’s death. 1 storey, in this case, is no different.

Lol... Me too! I hate elevators! Honestly, unless one is disabled, which there is an elevator in the back of the building to accommodate, I don't get why someone would not walk up one flight of stairs.... but I guess lots of people won't walk a block from a parking ramp either.

These are my ideas that would in my opinion fill in Downtown Columbia nicely and would give us more our own character even more than we are doing now. and I still believe in the Concept of Build it and their will come. People are already moving in because of our growth and development in downtown why not spur on more
I'm surprised no one has seen this yet. I spent a little bit of time making all of this for y'all to see

What do you know it's like i predicted it. The city needs to jump on building that office tower asap and get a few big tenents in it. And make it the tallest in the city with a mixture of other things like a lower level retail space and apartments attached. That corner in general is so ready for development (Laurel and Main.)

I remember talking to the Mayor and council member about 7 years ago about yours idea and i can't remember what they told me this lot was for but. It's a revisited idea i would love to present to the again. Anyway what am I talking about?

The massive surface lot across the street from the library on Assembly St. Awhile ago I proposed the Mayor to try an find a developer who's willing to build an Epicentre style mall on the Lot and he loved that idea because he says they are trying to bring more entertainment and a new Hub for it in Downtown Columbia.

Well after i spent time in Atlanta a month ago i realized that this could happen and i think it will be nice if we can have it get built along side with the Tower next to the library at the same time. So think about it. Not only new permanent resident living within 1 block of Main Street but a Mall similar to the Peachtree Center/Epicentre Combined. On that block and maybe have a spot for a Hotel or condo or office space build connected to it or on top of the mall again similar to The Peachtree Center and Epicentre.

That's just my idea I think the downtown density is getting better and a lot more people are looking for that go to place to hang other than the Vista and Five Points. And something like this especially across from the Hub and 4 hotels (Marriott, Holiday Inn, Sheraton and Hotel Trundel) a lot of tourist would visit and shop and eat there also. That whole 3 block section of downtown from Sumter to Park Street will be the perfect spot for new downtown activity and connection to the Vista and I'm pretty sure this will only bring in New people and new business in the CBD.

I also believe this isn't too far fetch I just think someone needs to make the move and take the risk to kick off all of this.
