Notre Dame needs to grab another school and join the Big Ten conference. But, the Big Ten would have twelve teams and the name Big Twelve is already taken. Maybe call it the "Magnificient Twelve"? Or the "Dirty Dozen"?
I don't know, but Notre Dame definately needs to join a conference.
Notre Dame doesn't win bowl games because they constantly get invited to bowl games where they are OUT OF THIER LEAGUE because they are a big TV draw.
As to their recruitment....they finished ranked #11 just last year and played in the Sugar Bowl....so talk that they can't get talent seems odd.
They're just in a down year, they'll rebound.
However, they'll continue to lose bowl games on a fairly regular basis until they start playing in bowl games that they DESERVE to be in.
P.S. I think gettin beat over and over and over in bowl games isn't helping the program. Be careful what you wish for.
Didn't they make it to a bowl two years ago? May not have won it, but they aren't done for, not by a long shot. And good football players with mediocre grades are everywhere, I'm sure they have no problem recruiting players for football.
That NBC thing is a big thing money wise for them. They have to realize that it is going to be impossible to keep up as an independent in this day and age of college football. They must make the most ridiculous schedule to ever get considered for ranking. When they do have an off year they end up getting creamed like they are this year, because the schedule is just too tough. I think they would be a good addition to the Big East. If they ever become good again they could probably run the Big East for years. I think this is all wishful thinking on our part. They will probably continue as an independent and lose for many years to come.
I am wondering why the Big 10 was willing to stay at 11 schools in their conference. It's such a random, non-logical number for one of the major athletic conferences. Usually, when a conference changes or expand, they make sure they at least have an even number of teams.
Is it because they are waiting for a school like Notre Dame to come around and join?
Notre Dame has lost nine bowl games in a row. That's really horrible. Even if they are outmatched, you'd figure they'd get lucky and win ONCE. But, no. They have lost every time.
