Yikes! Looks exactly like the traffic I encounter on Piney Forest Road in Danville and that's....not a good thing.

Road repairs to fix potholes along Greenville Blvd | WNCT

Quote:
The road work along Greenville Boulevard runs from 10th Street, to Memorial Drive.

Construction is running from 7pm to 6am Sunday through Friday.

During these times drivers can expect traffic delays and pattern changes.

The project is estimated to cost the state two million dollars.

One of the main fixes from this work would be the flattening out of manholes along the street.

Satah Lentine is the resident engineer for the project and said, “We were seeing cracking in the asphalt, as well as rutting which is depressions in the asphalt, which is due to wear and tear of aged asphalt and those problems. If they’re not fixed it just gets worse and you’re seeing more and more pot holes that have to be repaired.”

Drivers are asked to use cause if driving through the construction zone.

The project is set to be completed on November 30th.

That picture could be Firetower Rd between Charles and Arlington...every day. At least you can blame some construction in this case.

How about an East-West Interstate quality road that allows traffic to move around Greenville/Winterville. Question...how do you get from Hwy 11 to Hwy 33? The answer is clearly, in all cases (Greenville Blvd, Firetower Rd, even Worthington Rd)...you sit in traffic.

Where is that project on the STIP? 10th largest city in the NC, worst roads out of the top 20.

1. Extend the freeway from Stantonsburg Rd to Arlington Blvd and add interchanges/grade separations.

2. Upgrade Memorial to expressway and add tiny interchanges and grade separations.

3. Upgrade Greenville Blvd to 6-lane expressway from Memorial to 10th. (The part from Charles to 14th shouldn't be that hard at all.)

4. Add more turn lanes at Evans and Arlington Blvd intersection.

No offense Slay, but you are off base...

There needs to be a new road, limited access, just like the other major cities have to handle volume. All of the traffic sits on our existing roadways and has in Greenville forever. The SW bypass will be done more than 25 years after it was #1 on the TIP list. And an East-West limited access isn't even on the drawing board (one reason is because the SW bypass never got done).

Upgrading existing roads is too expensive and takes too long (and what do you do with traffic in the meantime...oh and there's the NIMBY's (see Evans St)). The way to increase capacity and speed is to build a new road WITH ENTRANCES AND EXITS...and certainly the growth in Greenville/Winterville justifies it. Our local elected officials should AT LEAST get it on the drawing board. Instead they have been touting mediocre road projects years in the waiting...that once done will again be over capacity because of growth.

And the road doesn't need to go to Ayden...just south of Winterville is fine.

Because I have nothing better to do on Friday afternoon I'm reading the entire thing. It picks up about halfway through.

http://prntscr.com/gzzwos

Let's make a roadway like this and Make it a six-lane freeway. If this happens, I will be happy.

Here's the other segment

http://prntscr.com/gzzyqv

If they do this, They can bring I-587 here!

They need to make the river wider and increase depth of it.

Infact, make it eight lanes and 55 mph! (Saying this because this town is growing)
