Has to be the lot behind Sup Dogs. They've had the One-Stop building in plans for years, they wouldn't pull it this fast due to a temporary funding issue.

I was hoping it was going to be on First and Reade like it is in the long range plan. It’s time to develop First Street across from the Town Common. And then raise the money to build a performing arts center on the other corner of First and Reade like this one: Robert Davis LLC - Hylton Performing Arts Center - George Mason University - Manassas VA. Yeah, I know that’s not going to happen anytime soon, but it’s nice to dream.
The nearly 17 acres, which begin at the intersection of East Fifth and Reade streets, proceed north until reaching East Third Street and then proceeds one block west and north, are currently zoned office-residential but will be changed to downtown commercial.
Does the "one block west and one block north" mean along third street or along the entire rezoned area? If it is just third street it suggests that the hotel will be opposite of the original lot (behind Sups) and on one of the parking lots.
I had opined previously that ECU was likely holding off on redevelopment downtown until after the new parking garage was complete at the Student Center...it appears maybe they were also waiting on the Town Creek Culvert project to be completed as well. This rezoning will finish the framework for a very impressive downtown if ECU can move forward with funding. It appears ECU is on the cusp of finally investing significantly into downtown Greenville (beyond parking lots).
Not directly related to Greenville, but I'm sure plenty of people live in Greenville and work in Kinston. With the new bypass and future Harvey parkway extension in Kinston, commuting between the two cities will be easier and development will be encouraged between the two.
An exciting announcement for Lenoir County is also good business growth for North Carolina.
“This company that’s going in recycles airplanes and airplane parts,” said Governor Roy Cooper.
Aircraft Solutions USA will be expanding its business with Global TransPark in Kinston and will create 475 new jobs.
“This company will have suppliers and will help boost our economy significantly, says Governor Cooper.”
Governor Cooper said the average wage is expected to be $47,000 a year, which is $10,000 above the county average.
“The challenge is going to be making sure we can provide for this company the kind of skilled, trained workforce that they need,” Cooper says.
Kinston Mayor Don Hardy says this is an exciting time for city and region.
“We have the opportunity to grow jobs, to afford people the opportunity to come to live, stay, eat, and have a great job and decent salary,” said Hardy.
The project is expected to increase living standards in the region, which Hardy said is a major plus for Kinston.
Governor Cooper also said the Global TranksPark has made significant progress and this expansion shows for it. Adding, “We knew when we set up the Global TransPark several decades ago that this was going to be a regional effort.”
Mayor Hardy says this is just the beginning for Kinston as the city continues to progress.
“This is just the start of it. I look forward to seeing many more jobs to come,” said the mayor.
Hardy says there is no exact timeline for when the jobs will be filled, but for Kinston’s sake, he hopes it’s soon.
What was the stalled project supposed to be? The description doesn't make sense - Firetower and Worthington don't intersect.
