Well I do sorta think that my last two articles kind of tie together. I do feel compassion on the many decent people that do live there, and there are no easy solutions. But, I feel like Lakeview Terrace is knocked down and nice residential is put up there, that could be the move that pushes the iceberg, if well planned, to have downtown, and that entire west side stretch (Tremont, Ohio City, Gordon Square, Flats, Edgewater) be upscale urban living with all pluses that come with urban living and amenities, and also if well developed between that area, have an area that is perceived to be (and actually is) as safe if not safer than most suburbs, and with quality schools to boot, if combined. Maybe that's an overreaction, but at the same time, in the short term, I don't know if there's a walking route that doesn't run relatively close to LT through the Flats. I think that downtown and the west side kind of have a similar thing, where nuCLEus could be for downtown what a nice development in the Flats would be for the West Side. But I don't know that $50 million would be enough.

Edit: not that I'm saying that the West Side isn't already great/safe as is, but when looking at crime statistics it appears that Ohio City is grouped together with The Flats, and I'd venture that most of crime in that area comes from over there.

Unfortunately no computer access but read on the Plain Dealer how the property at East 22nd that was a detention center may be converted into a boarding school. Obviously John Hay appears to have been a success, but perception or reality of poor performing schools seems to be a reality still for the city. Even Hayes which appears to be centrally located between Tremont, Ohio City and Gordon Square still only receives a rating of 2 from GS (although that site can be taken with a grain of salt too). Do you all think boarding schools are the answer and what other solutions can be reached out of the money going to improve the schools, or their reputation?
