1) There is a discussion of underground tunnels connecting the new headquarters building west of Public Square with the new R&D center and/or Tower City. Downtown Cleveland needs more pedestrian tunnels, but perhaps less so as climate change continues to mute winters. It's still great to not have to put on a coat to move between buildings.

2) Paint and coatings R&D in the future will more involve digital technologies, a boost to Cleveland's tech profile.

My big question is why does the court house have to be in the center of downtown? To facilitate the amenities available to judges, lawyers and court house employees? Isn't it easier for judges and lawyers to travel than to transport prisoners (PERHAPS NOT)? Witnesses and others might be afforded free parking if a justice complex was built elsewhere in the city, as land would be cheaper. If needed, shuttles could be run from downtown Tower City and law firms to the new court house. The proceeds from selling the more valuable land under the current Justice Center could help offset the cost of the new court house.

Have we explored what has been done in other cities? The new Franklin County Courthouse is located on South High St., near I-70, but 0.7 miles from the Ohio Statehouse and the center of downtown, but a new Franklin County Corrections Center is in another location six miles away.

Doesn't any city build new court houses adjacent to modern jails???

Cleveland itself would lose no economic viability if the court houses were moved from downtown, although downtown would be negatively impacted until the Justice Center site could be redeveloped. Cleveland actually may gain viability if the new court house triggered a rebirth of another district of the city. And another location for a new justice center, perhaps near I-90, could provide easier access for the entire county. And the onus wouldn't be on the county to build an attractive court house building, which likely wouldn't happen anyway. Any fans of the new county administration building?

Could the new corrections center be built near East 55 St., providing access to both the Healthline bus rapid and Blue/Green rail rapids, especially if a free trolley/shuttle operated between Euclid Ave., the new corrections center, and the rapid station. Perhaps visiting hours could be staggered to avoid rush hours and facilitate mass transit service.

Just thinking.
Agreed with much of this. I guess I'm wondering what other similar cities to Cleveland do. I'd love the idea of a cool new courthouse in the current location, and a new county lockup near the other correctional facilities at E 30th and Orange. However, not sure of the logistics of it all.
I do think the county courthouse should remain in the heart of downtown, however.

Default Residents fight Little Italy apartment project as final approval nears

There's a real question IMO whether Little Italy can accommodate increased traffic without seriously increasing already annoying congestion.

None of the articles above discuss how much parking for the Washington Inn will be decreased as apparently as the project if being built on a Washington Inn parking lot. Will Washington Inn diners now search for street parking or be forced to use a valet?

Looks like SHW R+D is going to the old VA site in Brecksville.

Too bad for downtown. HQ is still a go for public square so that's good. Maybe I'm totally biased but I never understand these corporate decisions for their creative departments. Whether its American Greetings, Eaton, or now SHW, it makes much more sense to me to get the creative element closer to where the younger crowd wants to be and closer to the educational resources. Putting it in the suburbs just screams old bureaucracy, old management style, etc. Need less of that crap and more thinking outside the box, new ideas, new strategies.

Any indication when we'll get to see some plans regarding the new HQ building?

Found their main official website on their new HQ: https://www.sherwin-williams.com/buildingourfuture/

According to this website, SW hasn't even picked an architect yet, so we're probably several months away from any sort of rendering.

But for comparison, Key Tower is 1.2 million sq ft. So SW will spread this square footage across that 3 parking lot footprint.

My guess right now is a serious of mid-rise and low-rise buildings.
