I was also told the building is 26 stories with 21 of them being usable work space.

Yep. The work that gets hampered in the cold and snow is the stuff that's done above ground. Even still, it just slows a little. With the technologies today, about the only thing you can't do in cold weather (below 40 F) is paint.

Looks like the Cleveland Group Plan Commission is working overtime. They held a meeting not during their normal schedule:

Plans to revitalize downtown Cleveland are in the works

... and pour concrete.

Another company doing well in Cleveland:

GrafTech International Ltd - Investor Relations - Press Release

May not be a Fortune 500 Company but we should be damn glad to have them.

They have quite a few job openings, too, if you are looking.
No jobs in this town? Really?

Depending on the application, even that's possible.

Yep. But, one must notice that the vast majority of them required degreed professionals. Education = very important.

Yea, but you hear people say "there are no jobs here". Not "there are no jobs here unless you have a degree".
So...

We may not be a hotspot for employment, but there are jobs here. You just need to be a bit more creative in how you find them.

People look at the Plain Dealer classifieds and do one search on Monster and then declare "there are no jobs here!".
Although there are currently 1,572 jobs listed in Cleveland on Monster.com. The Cleveland Clinic doesn't use Monster add another 500.

People say what people say. It doesn't make them correct.

Also, I think it's fair to say that many if not most employers don't use Cleveland.com or Monster.com. I've never once found anything on either of them. The best thing to do is post a solid resume on as many job sites as you possibly can (the aforementioned included) and also apply at some local recruiting offices. It has worked for me without fail. I'm employed and still continuously get calls (2-3 per week, on average). The problem is, many people are to ignorant or lazy to do so -- kind of like their approach to increasing their skill set. The days of the lifetime $25/hour job being handed out after one squeaks past high school are over. It's not something to be happy about, but it's certainly time for people to come to grips with that fact and be proactive about it.

Curious because we always continue to hear different news stories about these projects. But does anyone have a better idea of when construction will start on:

-The Convention Center/Medical Mart
-The Casino
-Flats East Bank

I thought two of the three were suppose to start by fall, but then construction got pushed to December.
