I think Houston is in the top 2 as far as urban canyons in the South. (if not 1, then 2)At least among the major cities. Maybe some of the smaller cities have urban canyons, but they wont have the height of Houston.

Thanks! Yeah, there aren't many cities in this country that can claim residential canyons like that.

Most of these buildings didnt even exist 15 years ago. Mission Street is fast becoming the latest focal point of development in Downtown SF.
Mission Street's transformation definitely has been amazing...if i had taken that pic more recently, the parking garage on the left side of the frame would have been 555 Mission instead (a new ~500' foot tower completed this year, for those of you who don't know).

Seems many, if not most cities have "Canyons".

Nice pics everyone.

If I look down third ave downtown from the upper east its like an 8 mile canyon into midtown and downtown. 6th ave in midtown? I mean, really? This is REDICULOUS. Its either bigger or smaller, and chicago is smaller.
People on this site clearly have reading comprehension problems. I was the first poster to state that NYC had the most urban canyons of any city, but that still doesn't make them the best. Why don't you go back a couple of pages and reread my 2nd post since you clearly had a lot of trouble understanding it.

The buildings in Chicago line up in a uniform fashion, essentially creating a "canyon" wall. The height of buildings in Chicago is maintained throughout the downtown area. You don't have 100 story skyscrapers directly next to 10 story skyscrapers like you do in Manhattan.

Me too! The Board of Trade served as Wayne Tower in Batman Begins, and LaSalle St is where the Joker got flipped over in the semi trailer in the Dark Knight.

A lot of people pick on Orlando, but for not being the most business-y city I think we have an alright skyline:
