The wide streets also lessen the 'canyon' effect to some extent.

I really like the view of Hollywood Blvd looking west towards Highland (a little bit of it shown in one of the above photos). It is sort of a mini-canyon.

Great pics of Philly Kidphilly!

I have one to add.. while not as impressive in height it's impressive to see the extent of the length of some of Philly's Urban canyons that only NY and Chitown can beat.
