From my experience there are abandoned homes in North Philly that were abandoned when I was a Child. I am on Social Security. Like many Rust Belt Cities you can't give them away. Philadelphia was the 3rd Largest City with 2 million people when I was young, now it is barely 1 million

Where I lived in San Francisco there was hardly a house under $1 million, for a row. At the worst month of the mortgage crises there were 2 forclosures in the zip code
Since Florida, California and Nevada are the core of the housing bubble bursting...I find it hard to believe you had only 2 foreclosures....I'm sure anyone can find one zipcode that is doing well; however this is not indicative of the city as a whole.

I think it is that "NEW' math, that I keep hearing about. And as I am sure you know...but maybe not some posters...but to perform any valid statistical analysis...you generally need at least 1,000 respondents, who are unbiased or in a double blind study, source College Statistical Analysis 101...at any university.

Those figures are for the Metro Area, some suburbs have collapsed completely. Vallejo is in Bankruptcy, Houses there went from $700,000 to barely $250,000. They have now rebounded to about $500,000. Mountain Home and Brentwood collapsed from $750,000 to Barely $250,000. But in the City of San Francisco there are few forclosures and any there are get snapped up immediately
I do not dispute your statements...but in Philadelphia, there are similar areas,especially since it has a lower foreclosure rate overall. It's the whole city that matters however..not a few fortunate zip codes.

TRY AGAIN TO FOLLOW; The City of San Francisco is surrounded by water on three sides so commuting is a buster. Anyone who can wants to move into the City. That and foriegn investors snatch up almost anything that comes available. SOOOO, while even immediate suburbs like Alameda can be suffering the City has had no real effect.
Philly might be able to beat Gary, Indiana in poll challenge.. San Francisco is just astounding,there are not any cities like it in the U.S..
