I agree. Everytime I would visit Dallas from Austin there there were always plenty of upscale stores and shopping malls. Im not a real shopper (because im a guy) but if I were a female I would definetly put Dallas in the top 4 when it comes to upscale shopping in the SOUTH. And I agree people think because its in Texas that it cant be a fashionable place. My top 4 in order would be South Fla, Houston, Dallas, Atl. (Notice I said SoFla because you can find ALOT of upscale shopping from Palm Beach Gardens down to South Miami-Dade.)

This is a joke thread right? Atlanta is similar to Dallas. Buckhead shopping alone (Lenox Sq Mall and Phipps Plaza) oust Austin's shopping any day of the week.

Austin is not an "upscale" high fashion city. It's more like a computer software and hipster paradise. Atlanta is more old south like Dallas.

1. Pretty Much.

2. Dallas is not really "Old South", it's more like "Western South". Heck, Atlanta isn't even "Old South". Old South would be Charleston/Savanah/New Orleans/etc.

Even culturally, Charleston/Savannah/New Orleans are a different kind of "Old South." Some people might think of cities like Birmingham, Montgomery, Jackson, etc. when they think "Old South."

Totally. Atlanta is most definitely New South all the way and has been for quite some time. Hell, the term New South was even invented in Atlanta to get away from that "not so pleasant past".
