They're doing the island expansions again on the west banks of the Hudson by midcentury. So is Manhattan inadequate? Has it failed NYC? Whats the need to expand it? LOL your logic against you.

Because it adds more mobility to the region. I never said roads are the end all be all but they are a huge part of the infrastructure in the west as they are in the east. We clearly have the superior road systems here, you folks have the transit for now. The difference is, this is our time, LA's the city with the infrastructure to handle its population, not prehistoric NYC. Your city was built in a time period when toasters would be considered an artifact from outer space and thrown in a well and tried as a witch weapon. LOL
Angelino here.. 2 THings I disagree with.. LA was a disgrace in the 70's and 80's. One of my uncles has bullet wounds to prove it. Downtown was hell, smog was horrible, gangs were at large during this period and drug use was insane..

We HAD our time.. Not it's horrible. And not because the car, but the destruction of our transit system.

He actually beleives that all of Americans problems will be solved if they follow LA
I never said you couldn't afford to live in NYC. I only asked how you make rent because you seem to be shopping on 5th every day. I live in a similarly expensive area and I know for a fact that even with a salary triple the national average that its still tough financially to be spending it away shopping high end every day. I never called you poor, you're exaggerating that. I was just curious to your financial situation as a younger 20's, still in school, living in the very expensive Brooklyn, and shopping on 5th. That's something you don't see everyday, especially here where people live by their means.

Here's the post your talking about https://www.city-data.com/forum/25531824-post543.html

Chicago like LA is a great city but as far as urban, LA is everything Chicago is plus double and denser.

I'll take "horrible" L.A. over the urban blight in Chicago. That city is still partying like its 1992.

But, I digress. Chicago has a lot of really tall buildings, which makes it a flawless paradise. You should move back.

Get over it. Few, if any, cities are bashed like L.A. is on these forums. Chicago is one of "America's Sweethearts" around here, the apple in everyone's eye. Me pointing out that it has major issues with crime isn't hating, it's reality.

Just look at what this guy writes. You could cut the smug with a knife.
