See here gent, I know California, I am from there and couldnt wait to leave it, it just doesnt have a city like NYC. Sorry
The bay area is gorgeous as is all of California but I dont much care for the hiking and surfing activities, for me a coastal setting is being in a 50 story tower and looking on the horizon of endless water from one of the (if not the most) powerful city in the world. Nothing in California can come close to that feeling
Also enough of this micro climate talk, IDGAF what climate you have, climate I want from stepping into my balcony, I want it immediately for the season its meant to be, why would I drive from mountain to ocean to experience different climates? Do you think most people have that kind of time?
If you commute at all you end up doing it anyway.
And for someone who claims to be from LA you seem to be clueless about the fact that you can do just about any activity in LA that you can do in NYC that doesn't have to do with living in a brownstone neighborhood. You're being completely ridiculous right now.

Youre not from California, and if you were you left to young to know anything. And yes you can get the living in a 50 story tower looking out over the horizon thing in SF. Absolutely you can, but you cant get that great weather over there.....
When you live in the city, it doesn't really matter what the "tourist attractions" are.
At least my carbon copy city is safe and clean.
Wait, liking a Mediterranean climate makes a person shallow? I rather like wearing shorts and flip flops in January. I've been out east in the winter, talk about ass ugly and miserable.
revolving your life around fun in the sun "activities" and paying top dollar for it, yes. It is an attitude that annoyed me about both FL and CA (have lived in both places) so I'm not just talking out of my a$$. They are strikingly similar in attitude, and the people are fickle to cold weather in both. I think CA and west coast in general attracts a lot of naturalist/sensitive/touchy feely personalities. Probably a lot of "SF"'s on the MBTI personality test, as well as type B personalities. Nothing wrong with that at all, I have many friends who prefer that kind of stuff, I'm just not one of them. All subjective I suppose, I am only opining. I do feel strongly about it however.
Of course you wouldn't bother questioning this poster for his/her off topic comment because you're a fellow west coast booster.
Yeah I don't have time to read and comment on every post on here...As far as being a West Coast booster--I've voted against West Coast cities in favor of East Coast cities I prefer all the time on these goofy threads.
Though as far as Bridgeport, CT vs. San Jose, I'd prefer San Jose...

Wtf? You have never been to NYC if you think LA can match it pound for pound. LA trumps SF as a city, but neither California cities come close to NYC. You have to be on drugs to think that, take a walk in DT Brooklyn alone and you will be pressed to find a downtown better than LA's and that's needless to say Manhattan is a whole another animal

Who cares if people prefer warm weather over cold weather? Some of you sound like the Grinch.
