Actually the Concord, CA Urban Area(of which Walnut Creek is a part) is a good comparison to the Bridgeport, CT MSA. Really good actually.

For those who dont know...

The Concord Urbanized Area is part of the San Francisco MSA and is east of the Oakland Hills. It is mainly comprised of bucolic and very wealthy suburbs and small towns.

The Concord, CA UA is one of the most affluent and highly educated Urbanized Areas in the whole nation. We sometimes refer to that area as the Diablo Valley because it sits in the shadow of the mountain that bears the same name.

I've been to both and I can say that they're both boring as hell. Bridgeport istelf isn't nice, but the suburbs are beautiful. I like them even better than suburban San Jose due to how lush it looks I also love Merrit Parkway. San Jose is way more diverse though.

I'd never live in either but give the nod to Bridgeport because it's closer to NYC and the people seemed way more refined upscale Ralph Lauren add than ppl in San Jose who seem kind of sloppy (no offense) and better salaries.

For the country's supposed 10th largest city, what is there to do in San Jose? What is in San Jose that you cant find anywhere else? Seems like its the posterchild for monotonous carbon copy city more than being a city with a real identity

The highest median home price of any MSA.

The largest annual number of patents of any US City.

The only one of the 10 largest cities where Non-Hispanic Whites, Asians and Hispanics each comprise at least 30% of the population.

There are many other things to bring up, but those are off the top of my head.

I'm talking about things to do and see that make the city different not things that dont matter to me. I know it has scenery but how is San Jose's museums, art, and music scene?

Well, admittedly although I travel down to San Jose at least twice a week on business, Im not too knowledgable on things to see and do.

However, I do know that there is a beautiful Rodin Museum at Stanford, as well as the Tech Museum in downtown.

Im sure an actual San Josean can fill us in on more things to do.

I will however say this. San Jose is a really great place to raise a family as it has some of the top scoring schools in the state, it has beautiful, safe and very clean neighborhoods in abundance.

Not only is San Jose safe, but its one of the safest cities, period.

So maybe its not the best for a city dweller, but your kids will love it. LOL

No contest, ct is a much nicer place to raise a family. They have some of the best k-12 schools in the united states. San Jose schools are struggling.
