This is an insane, ridiculous, absurd post. Hudson county is nowhere near brooklyn ,queens or the bronx as far as being apart of the "fabric" of the city not even in the same universe. Manhattan is a borough not a city. And the bulk of nycs massive population is in the other four boroughs. Political boundaries is not the only thing seperating ny from nj. Ny and nj is different culturally aswell. That goes for any two states or cities

the bx,Queens and Brooklyn have Famous NY neighborhoods, started quintessential ny trends and cultures, famous new york landmarks and locations, famous new york actors, politicians, musiciansetc, famous ny events...etc i could go on and on

Brooklyn, queens and the x dont have to be manhattan, theses places add to the overall nyc culture. Hudson county residents commuting to nyc does not mean they are apart of the fabric of the city, not even almost

lol, from the NYC forum:
https://www.city-data.com/forum/new-y...ough-poll.html Hudson County seemed to of won that.

You're taking the term "6th boro" way too seriously.. The term originated from ex-NYers living in Hudson County and commuting to Manhattan- It's the convinence, demographics, and geographical location that makes it logical... "Not even in the same universe".. Get over yourself.

Based on size alone JC/Hoboken significance to NYC is marginal and NY state own Nassau county has already much stronger ties with the city than any other county in the region. Instead of dreaming to be a part of NYC cleanup your own Newark, Elizabeth and Irvington and be proud of your urban glory.
I truly believe if NYers felt Hudson county was as separate/insignificant as you claim, then JC wouldn't have gotten a significant portion of Manhattan office moves. It's just a more attractive option in certain aspects.

Population is a good thing and all, but a tremendous portion of folks who work in Manhattan don't live in the city.

I dont know what any of this has to do with the fact that you said hudson county is "almost" a part of the fabric of nyc as bk and qnz. Had you made a poll about that nyers would have thanked you for a good laugh

LOL, you know what's so friggin hilarious? I quoted that from a blog written by a NYer (seing how you would respond)- Sure enough, that's what you responded to.

Well whats hilarious is that the majority of the citizens of nyc would never make such a statement. Which is why i posted what i posted. What was the blogger? a freaking transplant? lol Nobody from nyc would make such a statement. Its ridiculous

We've been this way for 100+ years, I really can't say where the "Sixth" Borough is because within the NYC Metro Area anywhere could "qualify" I guess - But it still wouldn't fit in.

Even though we have alot of NJ people who work here/ have easy commute, that still doesn't count because NJ is a separate state and New Jersey People wouldn't have that and neither would we. The rest of Long Island would be the 6th borough if we had to have one though.

Brooklyn and Queens are already on the island and it would make the most sense. But still it wouldn't work because transit would have to have a huge renovation Lol.
