^ I didn't know there was one. I mean I'm in LA right now, and no one seemed to care particularly other wise. LA's not really a a real city anyway, it's a behemoth suburb.
I have never found any rivalry between Boston an Los Angeles to exist (at least in LA), other than the Laker-Celtic
thing..When I lived in LA and Southern California cities I met an abundance of Bostonians and people from NYC..If anything I think generally speaking people in LA like the East Coast.
I am biased to California so I choose LA..I rooted for the Celtics though..used to be a Lakers fan..now not sooo much..
The LA region may have nicer weather, but Boston doesn't have to deal with earthquakes or forest fires. I'd rather have predictable snow than massive earthquakes and unrelenting forest fires that force me out of my home!
I'm going with Boston on this one. Not a fan of Boston sports, but the walk-ability, education, history, and food (I love Italian food) are great...oh, and let's not forget how nice the harbor is. I also love Cape Cod and New England's beauty.
Does the rivalry really extend outside of basketball?
There is a marginal rivalry between the Redsox and Angels, dating back to the '86 ALCS, the two teams have played each other quite frequently in the post-season, always to the advantage of Boston, until last year when the Angels finally swept the Sox. Some Angel fans dislike the Redsox for this reason, but I think most Redsox fans have few if any negative feelings toward the Angels.
As for the question, it's asking which of my two favorite cities is better, and there is no suitable answer. They are very different, both quite unique and both with a lot to recommend. Probably the most comparable topic would be culture. Both have top tier symphonies and art museums.

Oh good, more ignorance.
Yeah, Boston's not really a city either. Its just a glorified village like San Francisco. Oh and all Southerners are missing teeth and play the banjo, all homosexuals have AIDS and are contagious via the air, no women can drive, no white person can dance or fight, and the entire Northeast consists of blue collar Sicilians and Italians who talk like Tony Soprano and the cast of Jersey Shore.
