Why do you refuse to even consider that the flood story is in the Bible not because it actually happened, but because the writer of Genesis in writing to his fellow Israelites of the time wrote it as a polemic against the flood legends of the other Ancient Near East peoples giving it a slant in keeping with Hebrew theology? Genesis was written primarily to them, not to us. It addressed issues important to them.
It's been said that God has two books . . .the book of scripture and the book of nature, and that the two therefore cannot be in contradiction to each other. Therefore, if the book of nature seems to disagree with the book of scripture, maybe the book of scripture is being misinterpreted . . .misunderstood.
It is a fact as I pointed out that it is simply impossible for the various strata of the Grand Canyon to have been formed by a single event such as the biblical flood despite what young earth creationists believe. Therefore the biblical flood is simply not historically true. The flood story is in the Bible for theological reasons rather than for literal historical reasons. The biblical flood story simply counters the competing flood legends of the time.
That is a perverted look at scripture, Michael.
There is no reason to believe the flood was any different than what the scripture says.
Man is smarter that God, continuously shoving Him out of this world.
That's why I have no faith in science, man is in control of it, for the most part, man who denies God.
Only religionists willingly embrace lies in the face of truth.
When man has an agenda against God as most scientists, the elites, the smartest of the smartest, or so they think, Charlie stands in opposition.
Not that it means anything on this earth to man, but,
2 Tim. 2:19
"Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity."
Trying to prove God wrong is evil, it's iniquity in the face of God. Let none of us be fools as to what's going on, that's exactly what most of them are doing!
The Bible was not written as a science book, nor as a geology text book. It was written to explain how humans should behave in their relationship with God.
Remember when Jesus says "render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's"? Did you notice that he did NOT proceed to a disquisition on principles of taxation, progressive vs. flat rate, income based vs. per capita vs. sales tax vs. assets based taxation? He did not remark on whether it would make more sense for the capitation rate for colonies like Judaea to be higher than that for Rome, as they required more defense funds be spent in maintaining their garrisons, or whether the rates should be lower in order to incentivize Romans to settle and develop those areas.
Why didn't Jesus talk about these things?
Because they are irrelevant to his message. And he said so, pithily (as he said everything).
The Bible is NOT a book about plate tectonics, the deposition of sedimentary rocks, erosion, watersheds, continental drift, or any similar subjects. The purpose of Genesis is not to provide a primer of earth science. Its purpose is to review the history of the Israelites before they were Israelites, and to prepare the ground for the lawgivings in Exodus and beyond.
God could have created the world with the canyon already partially or fully formed. The canyon doesn't tell us anything about whether or not the Flood was a real historical event.
You reveal a lack of knowledge concerning the formation of the earth which is dated to be some 4.54 billion years old give or take 50 million years. For a quick lesson concerning how the earth was formed, go here;
The issue is not what God could have done but rather what God did do, and the geologic evidence shows us how God chose to bring about the earth as it is today.

Charlie, tell me more about this agenda against God, can you name any of these scientists or elites that are plotting against God? Really?
And 2 Tim 2:19 says - > the Lord knoweth them that are His, not you Charlie, even though you think you do.
