Dr. Clarence Jordan (Author Of The Cotton Patch Gospels)

The Cotton Patch Gospels

http://rockhay.tripod.com/cottonpatch/intro-pauline.htm

Quote:
God will seek us-- how long?

Until He finds us. And when He's found the last little shriveling rebellious soul and has depopulated hell, then death will be swallowed up in victory and Christ will turn all things to the Father that He may be all in all. Then every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. -Dr. Clarence Jordan-

1 "I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me;
I was found by those who did not seek me.

To a nation that did not call on my name,
I said, 'Here am I, here am I.'

As Teddy Ruxpin PhD (The talking bear) would say..."something is not quite right."

The Hebrew word Sh@'owl is not translated as hell in 29 Scriptures of the K.J.V., instead opting for grave. Some of them are....

1 Samuel 2:6

Quote:
The Lord killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up again.
To be consistent it should read....

The Lord killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to hell, and bringeth up again.

Hosea 13:14

Quote:
I will ransom them from the power of the grave (sh@'owl); I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave (sh@'owl) I will be thy destruction; repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.
This passage should read....

I will ransom them from the power of hell; I will redeem them from death.' O death, I will be thy plagues; O hell I will be thy destruction; repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.

Psalm 88:3

Quote:
For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth unto the grave (sh@'owl).
This passage should be.....

For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth unto hell.

Psalm 30:3

Quote:
Oh Lord, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave (sh@['owl): thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down into the pit.
This passage should be.....

Oh Lord, thou hast brought up my soul from hell: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down into the pit.

1 Cor. 15:55

Quote:
O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
To be consistent, this passage should translate hades as hell. It should read...

O death, where is thy sting? O hell, where is thy victory?

Christian forums: This is some of what I have learned so far.

1. Sin is not destroyed, it is pushed into some corner of the universe where God does not dwell.

2. Every knee will bow and every tongue confess, however, this is done prior to everlasting extermination.

3. Sin and hell and death are all eternal. They exist in the same dimension as God, the Eternal One.

4. There shall be considerable curse upon nearly everything forever.

5. God punishes with one objective in mind: endless torture.

6. Punishment is not corrective in nature. Punishment by the Supreme One is for the express purpose of His satisfaction.

7. All does not mean all. All are made sinners, not all are made righteous.

8. The Scriptures are self explanatory.
