My "vote" is with the others who suggested not allowing this man into the home.
There is a NT story (my poor memory...can't remember it all), I think, where some man was sleeping with his mother or sister, but yet wanted to go to their meetings as if nothing was wrong. The apostle (Paul?) had him kicked out and banned from their company. This guy needs to repent first, then come to the meetings...he's a backslider...not someone who has never heard the gospel before.
I've decided to take a break for a while. I feel like I'm on another planet. The person who invited him sees nothing wrong with it and the other members of the Bible study haven't said anything. My husband is going to call the Bible study host and let him know why we don't feel comfortable.
We live in a very small town and when the man was arrested it was in both local newspapers. In order to avoid identifying his daughter the news reports said that he was arrested for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor without getting into the details. Still, everyone in our group knows he was arrested and in jail for a while and no one seems to care. It blows my mind.
I don't feel endangered. He's not going to attack my daughter with my husband and I there. It's just the thought of him possibly leering at them that freaks me out (knowing that he fantasized about attacking his daughter for a while based on the police report I read).
I know I am being judgemental. It is something I'll have to work on, but sitting next to him isn't going to make me any less judgemental so I don't see the point of forcing myself to go.
He has a hearing next week. Hopefully, he'll strike a plea deal and go to jail for a while, recommit his life to Christ, and our Bible study will return to normal.
I don't think you're being judgmental, I think you're using your best judgment. If the allegations against him are true, that man is very sick and very dangerous. You're doing the right thing by protecting your family and trying to warn everyone else. I just pray that he can't harm anyone else before he is incarcerated.
Shalom...everyone is so afraid to say what they really think about this two-headed wolf whose invite to this Bible Study should be banned for obvious reasons.
Bad company corrupts good manners...the woman who invited him is feeling sorry for the devil.
Her motivation is highly suspect. Someone needs to re-assume an Apostolic position and rid the Bible study of this double-minded woman.
The Blessings of The Eternal One see you through this trial...

I agree. I think if I said what I really thought of that man, I would be banned from this forum. Suffice it to say I think he's committed an unforgivable sin and will have to stand before God someday and answer for what he's done (in addition to spending the rest of his life in prison . . . one can only hope).

Does anyone find it odd that he's joining a Bible Study the week before he's due in court?? I have the feeling this is an attempt to improve his image for court.
Have you seen the conditions of his bail? Sometimes if it's a sexual crime involving children the Judge can prohibit contact with children.
This is a tough call, my brother.
The good news is that God has put you in a position to experience, and maybe learn from, what is, IMHO, THE very toughest rule that Jesus ever put to his followers: to love your enemies--and sinners--as you do yourself and your family and friends.
This is clearly the commandment from JC that separates the men from the boys; or rather, the ones who talk the talk form the one who Walk the Walk.
But you probably know this already.
Me? Well, I never claimed to be that good of a Christian, and in fact my biggest most common sin is being overly-judgemental of others. If I had a daughter at the Bible Study I'd have to bring the matter up with the bible study host and then go with what he decides. After all, it's his home. By doing this you're increasing the chance that this accused rapist is not gonna attend the meeting, without being too un-Christian by demanding that he not attend because of his crime.
You've already showed that you're a good and fair man by even starting this thread and asking for our advice; many, many less tolerant and Christian people out there would not even think about letting this guy in to the Bible Study, and would instead probably cite some Fire & Brimstone Old Testament stuff about smiting enemies as their justification. LOL.
Let us know how this thing turns out.

So...you are saying, he's not worthy of guidance? My belief is, that people who ACTUALLY do this type of thing are sick and the only hope they have of rehabilitation is in God, if they truely want it.
The church should not turn it's back, but instead take precautions. As for the friend who brings the guy, she's not being wise but we can't judge her heart.
