I am not taking anything out of context. Who he was speaking to doesn't change who it applies to.

It is a promise to all mankind, your context point doesn't change that.

The Just shall live by Faith !

Hab 2:4;Rom 1:17;Gal 3:11;Heb 10:38 All of these verses have one thing in common, The Divine Promise that the Just shall live by Faith. Now exactly who are the Just ? The Just are all those who have been made and declared Righteous by the obedience of the death and blood of Christ. Rom 5:19

19For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

Notice the word shall here as it is also in the four verses above. You see the word Just as it is found in the above Three NT references is the greek word dikaios:

righteous, observing divine laws

a) in a wide sense, upright, righteous, virtuous, keeping the commands of God

Also as you can see its also the word righteous as in Rom 5:19. So in reality Rom 5:19 could read with no harm done Rom 5:19

19For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made to live by Faith.

So the death of Christ or His obedience will produce people of Faith !

Yes, to be made righteous and to be made Just are the same word, and the Divine Promise is that the Just shall [not maybe] live by Faith. This is also true because Christ as the seed of Abraham [Gal 3:16] of which it was promised to Abraham centuries before, that in His Seed [Christ] all nations should be blessed Gen 22:18

And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

Peter preached Acts 3:25

Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.

The Blessing is that they, people of all nations or all kindreds of the earth, shall be made by the obedience of the Promise seed, which is Christ, shall be made righteous or to live by Faith ! This was Preached to Abraham centuries ago according to Gal 3:8-9

8And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

9So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

You see that ? That was God's Promise, that was His blessing to all nations through Abraham's Seed Christ, that He would Justify the heathen through Faith. That was the Gospel to Abraham, to make Him the Father of many Children of Faith. Thats why vs 9 says, so then, they which be of Faith are blessed with or together Faithful Abraham. God gives them Faith as He did Abraham their Father. They are Abraham's promised Children as God sware unto Him Gen 17:2

2And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. cp Heb 6:13-14

13For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,

14Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.

God promised Abraham a believing seed, a seed of Faith of all nations, that would be accomplished by the Obedience and Death of His Seed Christ ! Because of the Seed Christ, His obedience as per Rom 5:19, the many shall [not maybe] be made righteous or made Just or made to live by Faith.

All True Believers have part in that Covenant God made with Abraham, for He is the Father of the Faithful Rom 4:11,16

And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:

Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

God had promised Abraham an Offspring Gen 17:1-5

1And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

2And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.

3And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,

4As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.

5Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

All Believers are a Result of God's Covenant made to Abraham that He would multiply him greatly as a people of Faith.

And this Covenant God made with Abraham was a Type or picture of that made with Christ and His seed in Eternity Gal 3:17

17And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

Those who believe on Christ are the promised seed of Abraham, but not according to the flesh as Ishmael is a type of, but according to the promise as Isaac was typical of Gal 4:28

28Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.

Paul is speaking to Believers whether jew or gentile !

So Abraham by inspiration is the Father of all them that believe Rom 4:11, and we who do believe are called the children of Abraham Gal 3:7

7Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

This is a result of God's Promise made to Abraham in Gen 17:2

2And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.

Note " Abraham is the Father of God's People not because He is the biological ancestor of the jews but because he has a family of spiritual children who follow in his footsteps by believing as he did. God promised Abraham that He would bring life from his dead body [Rom 4] Thus Abraham is a living OT prophecy of the Gospel: He was not a Israelite but a pagan, and God had Justified him by Faith" See notes of ESV study bible for quote ! Gal 3:7-8

God had also promised to Abraham that He would Justify his offspring in the nations by Faith Gal 3:8

8And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

The Children of Promise are the Elect in The Seed Christ !

Rom 9:8

8That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

Christ of the Seed of Abraham and David is the Promised Seed who had a Seed in Him !

Gal 3:16

Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

Christ was the Seed is seen here also Gal 3:19

Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed[Christ] should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

Christ had a Seed in Him Isa 53:10

Speaking of Christ Isa writes Isa 53:10

10Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.

So the Children of Promise are Christ's Spiritual Offspring !

The Children of Promise is Israel !

Now having Identified the Children of Promise as the Chosen Seed in Christ, who is Israel Isa 49:3, now I want to show you that the Children of Promise are Israel, for that is the point in Rom 9:6-8

6Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:

7Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.

8That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

It can be seen in the trilogy of scripture, that Israel in vs6 is also called Children and seed in verses 7, and 8

So the Children of Israel or the Seed of Israel are the same !

There is no difference in saying The Children of Israel as in Dan 1:3

And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king's seed, and of the princes;

Rev 2:14

But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.

And the seed of Israel :

Isa 45:25

In the LORD shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.

Ps 22:23

Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.

Jer 31:37

Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.

So back to Rom 9:6-8, Paul identifies Israel as the Children.

And his caution is that not the Israel of the Flesh or the Children of the Flesh of Abraham merely are or is the Israel which the promises of God pertained to. But the Israel which is of Promise, typified by the Birth of Issac which was a Supernatural Birth produced by God's word of Promise. All the Children of Abraham brought about in that way, are Israel, whether they be ethnic jews or gentiles as it is stated in Gal 4:28 where paul is writing to both jewish and gentile believers in Galatia Gal 4:28

28Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.

Paul is telling these believers, that they were Israel, the Children of Promise Rom 9:8

8That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

So the Children of Promise are counted for the Seed, what Seed ?

This seed Isa 45:25

In the LORD shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.

The all covers all of both of the jews and of the gentiles ! They all make one seed that has been promised to be saved or Justified in the LORD !

As Isaac was Children of promise !

Gal 4:28

Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.

Paul here is addressing Believers in General, both jews and gentiles in galatia, but this can apply to all True Believers of all Time, in both Testaments, the Old and New. Isaac is a pattern for all True Believers. Now what made Isaac to become a Believer or Heir of Promise ? Scripture states that He was Heir with Abraham of the same promises Heb 11:9

By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:

Note: This promise is not physical land vs 10

10For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

This city is a Heavenly city that is Promised to the Heirs as in Heb 11:16

But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

Heb 12:22

But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,

All True Believers in Christ are Heirs with Abraham as Isaac was. Now when did Isaac become an Heir of Promise ? Was it because He believed ? No, He was the Heir, made so by God before being born Physically. Lets look at scripture. Gen 15:

3And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.

4And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he[Isaac] that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.

Gen 17:19

And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.

True Believers are all those whom God, of Abraham's Seed has established His Everlasting Covenant with, which Covenant is based upon the Blood of Christ Heb 13:20

20Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

Isaacs believing was because he was a Child of Promise, in other words, he did not believe in order to become a Child of Promise, but because he was a Child of promise, He became a Believer, and so it is with All True Believers in Christ Gal 3:29

29And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Gal 4:28

Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.

This rightly understood refutes the false teachings of man's freewill in this matter of Eternal Salvation, this has always been a matter of Promise to a specific seed..

Mystic,

Please try to understand that he is presenting Biblical information in order to answer the question. We could never consider that spam.

He believes the Bible to be the Word of God. But I am learning that a lot of people in this forum do not.

We may disagree, certainly. But we shouldn't refer to the Bible in this way. The information is being presented very honestly, and is not intended to be mean in any way.

This is a discussion board . . . not a propaganda site for posting bigoted spam.

This accusation is false and almost as bigoted as SBSG's rants. The failure to properly divide the scriptures is the source of this misrepresentation (lie). God-inspired is NOT God-dictated. The ONLY Word of God is Jesus Christ the Living Word of God and His words . . . not the interpretations of inspirations by superstitious and ignorant OT prophets using carnal misunderstandings and savage beliefs about the nature of God.

Idolizing the Bible is idolatry, period. It contains revelations about God, Jesus and eternal life . . . but it must be properly divided using the "mind of Christ" as the ONLY Word of God unambiguously revealing the true nature of our loving God.
