There seems to be a lot of debate about this area. It's one of the neighborhoods in Chicago I'm LEAST familiar with, but I'm looking at a property at 2620 W. Washington blvd. The lofts, the proximity to the loop, the LEED buildings (I'm really into 'eco' living all of a sudden), and the cheap rent are appealing to me.

Could someone tell me exactly what neighborhood this address is in? And if it is in or near one of the 'safer pockets' of the West Loop? For reference, I live in Buena Park/Uptown area...could anyone compare it to that neighborhood? Thanks in advance for any info you can provide!

I think I looked at 2620 w washington a few years back. It had extensive damage from the building next door. That area is not a good area and very empty. Around there, definitely stay east of western if you are south of the viaduct. Also you have new projects just built in what they are calling WestHaven Lofts, a mixed-income development. You are better off steering clear of that area.

Forget about it. Judging from the posts I have read of yours in the past, you will be miserable.

I would be willing to be somewhat of a pioneer for up and coming housing and wouldnt even consider that area. Your way to far west

you can forget about the near west area. Basically anything west of Ashland is going to become shady.
