I think you're overestimating just how many of those recent grads have even changed their legal addresses to their Chicago apartments rather than keeping their addresses listed as their parents' homes. After all, why change everything once a year if you know there's a strong chance you're going to be moving once your lease is up?

Of my college friends who are still in Chicago, I know only one who legally changed his address, and he only did it because he lost his Wisconsin ID and didn't want to have to wait to get a new one. Everyone else I know still has IDs that say they still live in the suburbs or some other nearby state.

EDIT: Last year appears to be about the same - 74 shot and 12 dead.
I think it's one of the most violent weekends of the year everywhere.

Yeah, it just seems that there's a few weekends or holidays in Chicago that it's almost guaranteed to have a lot of violence. The first few weekends of when it's nice out for example, and the few days around July 4th.

I am not talking about people still in college, I am talking the winners that sing the praises Chicago and make excuses for its corrupt elected officials. Many of these are closer to 30 than 21. If they have not registered to vote that likely is also something that Chicago's notoriusly sneaky ward bosses know and can use to jin-up some "votes" the keep "their guys" safely in power...

We had a few shootings in St.Louis, not many though.
I think they were too busy with the Fair and all the doings in town.

This is all the headlines I've heard.... but I'd not be surprised of some media outlets were lying about even that being too low....

This is true; but this just goes to show the only reason shootings and murders are down this year in general is due to the polar vortex. Hotter weather= More crime.
