For what its worth, temps in the 70s with dry air reminds me of the place that I think has the best weather on earth: San Diego. There is a reason San Diego's climate is one of the most sought after.
More like me merely pointing out that you REAAAAALLLLLYYY pour it on thick when speaking about Chicago. I know you like it and all and that's great I'm happy someone loves it... Hell someone's got to right? But heaven? LOL I mean I had to get my boots and shovel for that one because it was really getting deep.

We were warned and warned and warned of the Chicago winter. I moved here last August and we braced for the worst....people who moved from Alaksa and the northeast said Chicago was much worse. We were expecting it to be like one of Jupiter's moons or something.

It was not bad at all. With the proper clothing everything was fine. I found April to be the coldest.. which was the point where you just had to put the down jacket away.

I love the weather here. I love the seasons. This summer has been perfect. I wish i could tack one more month of this on, in the front of the season.

This summer has been one for the books which is why it is being talked about on the news so much. Don't expect summers like this too often. These are VERY rare. Basically this has been the summer that never was. Usually you can expect more heat and humidity than we have seen this year, so like I said, don't plan on this next year... In fact, don't plan on anything next year because you NEVER know what to expect when living here. Perfect example being election night last year where it was some 75 degrees when President Obama spoke in Grant Park! Now talk about out of the norm, but it proves that our weather here is as fickle as can be.

I have lived in Chicago for a number of years and now live in LA, but still might be moving back. The positive things about Chicago are the people. I have always met people there who are very down to earth with good values. Everyone is very proud of their city. Transportation is great, lots of things to do and "normal people." LA is very materialistic. I drive my Mercedes and you don't is the attitude. Very unfriendly drivers on freeways. Dangerous areas. People who have mohawks and piercings and tatoos on all parts of their body. Chicago winters are not that bad. The last week of January are the worst. Also the bees and wasps in the summer are terrible, everywhere! February one year one week was totally dark all day. It can be depressing, but certainly you can go downtown and have fun. Chicago is a wonderful and friendly place!

I've heard meteorologists like Chicago because of it's weather. Summer and winter can be extreme (mostly winter) but hey. At least we don't have hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, etc. Give and take.
