I know, I remember when I finally joined a running group after running by myself for years and wondered why I hadn't recognized this simple formula sooner in life:

Running clubs = young, in-shape, relatively thin females

Very common in this economy - especially among those of us who don't have trust funds.

Although it's not always the case. People do get apartments in the burbs and stay where their friends are nearby. Or they stay in the burbs because, you know, this is where there life has been so it just so happens to be where the job they landed is located.. People also find other living arrangements other than their mother's/parent's house or getting their own place....

Too many stereotypes in this thread. Lots of young people live in the burbs for their own reasons - Some don't like the city, don't like crowds, want a bigger apartment for less money, want a house to have a garden etc. Not all are broke living in their parents basement, or divorced with kids. I lived in the burbs myself for a while and commuted in on Metra when I was working for CMEGroup and every single day the platform and trains had tons of young people. It's not so unthinkable that different people take different paths in life. Especially not in a metro the size of Chicago.

The other thing I will add to my one word comment from the other day, that I disagree with your comment . .

The only way that Chicago would stand out compared to other cities in terms of "being easier to get laid" would be the high number of bars per capita as well as the extensive public transportation, means that its much easier to get safely drunk. People take this as well, it makes easier for hookups or whatever.

Well, I have news for everyone . . . thats a recipe for a date rape accusation and trial! Is that really what you want??

If you really want to look for a city that is "easiest to get laid" and still be legal, I would say cities where average/cute women are so self conscious because of models/actresses that it affects their self esteem thinking they don't deserve to be selective. IE: LA.

Not saying do this, but at least you won't go to jail for taking advantage of someones low self esteem, where you would for sex with someone intoxicated.

And you're a senior member on a website called CITY DATA

Oh, and Bill Gates and Steve Jobbes never get laid. Women in this day and age are always telling geeks to go away!

I actually joined a running group, but it only has like 3 girls in it. I then went to another, but they were all super serious about running and I wasn't attracted to any of them. I have a friend in another running group who keeps trying to get me to join to meet women, but they run like 8 hours starting at 6:30 on saturday mornings. Thats a little bit too much to try to find love.

That may be, but it does not an attractive dating partner make. I'm not dating (because I'm married), but when I was, I preferred women with some sense of independence and ambition. There are worse things than living simply.
