I mean, you're right.

NYC is still the safer city today, though.

They don't seem to be keeping people from moving here and driving rent up. Maybe we need more of them.

Depends where in North Chicago. Manhattan violent crime rate is about 8, Lincoln Park is about 2, Lakeview about 5. Manhattan in general would be about on par with Logan Square. Of course, it depends where in Manhattan, but if you look at a crime map of Manhattan vs North Chicago they're very, very similar. A muddled patchwork of very low to moderate crime areas with a few bad areas dotted here and there. Chicago as a whole has slightly less violent crime than the Bronx, although the Bronx is more tightly packed with less "division". Queens is the safest area, violent crime level of only 3 and half the property crime that Manhattan has.

Can't believe I'm up at 4am looking at crime stats. Ugh, go to bed...

I've been to the Bronx. and Harlem just based off of my own feeling, they feel more comparable to Logan Square, uptown, Albany Park or Little Village. Never been to Brooklyn though but I would imagine it would be somewhat similar.

Pretty sure dude was referring to the North Side of Chicago & not North Chicago, IL. Lol.

Parts of Brooklyn are. Other parts are more like Lincoln Park or Wicker Park.

Then they settled down.

And these are college educated people mind you, one of whom works in a senior level position with the federal government. There's so much misinformation and mis-framing of issues in the media, many times they would have you believe all of Chicago is a war zone.

Well then, those Chicago bashers in the media have been somewhat successful.

Tired of comparing Chicago to NY/Manhattan is absurd. Does anyone want to pay 1 million dollars
for a parking spot, have garbage lined on the side walks ( no alleys in Manhattan), can't buy a soda/pop
over 16 oz, where $85,000 a year is spent on rent & utilities, expensive housing, restaurants and
basic necessities....what middle class?
(personally I don't drink pop, just used it as an example)

Neither one is particularly dangerous. Large cities and populated areas are safer than most places.

Crazies live out in the country. I am sick of this stereotype.
