If it's industrial-ness you want, you can get several miles in if you use Pulaski or Cicero, from probably Midway (60th or so) at the southern end through around 31st, and you could get a bite to eat at a pizza place (Home Run Inn is close to 31st and Pulaski) or taco joint and then grab the bus to get back home (Pulaski to Belmont, I assume). You'll pass over the Stevenson and the South Branch of the river, if that interests you.

I live off of 47th, in Kenwood, and though it's quite desolate for stretches, you could walk from Lake Park over to around Western and pass truck/rail yards and not much else. And of course you could get a carne asada fix over towards Western if you caught a hanker.

Have you gone to the South Chicago neighborhoods around 95th and Commercial, close to the Indiana border? I feel tender towards Veteran's Park for its charm as a hub of old-school Latino-American patriotism, a bit peculiar to the area as the original and one of the oldest Mexican-American neighborhoods in Chicago. And you'd be not that far from Pullman once you're there, but I have not yet visited that neighborhood and so won't speak about it.

Thirteen miles, huh? Ok, I'm not even going to fake not being impressed. That's a lot of shoe leather. You'll earn a decent meal after a hike like yours, and there's plenty. Hit me for some references, or I'm sure others will pitch in (hint, hint).

I think you're confusing Bridgeport Restaurant with Polo, unless there are multiple Bridgeport places that do an Eggs Benedicto procession.

I was talking about Polo, but I didn't know that multiple places do it.
