I'm originally from Chattanooga and currently live 30 miles north of Chatt. in Cleveland. As far as overall scoring, I prefer Chattanooga. The general atmosphere of the city is more friendly.

I went to school at the Univ. of Tenn. and have many friends who live in Knoxville. There are big traffic congestions when UT plays football in town plus there always seems to be interstate road construction going on. Knoxville has a huge new shopping/restaurant area just off I-75 but this seems to be mostly more expensive type stores. It is close to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area which is good for a day or overnight trip (great outlet shopping, variety of restaurants, great scenic place).

Chattanooga has the Hamilton Place Mall area plus a downtown/riverfront area it is revitaling with great results. I see several letters to the editor of the main local newspaper from visitors commenting on how helpful and friendly Chattanoogans are. Sports competition is highest among high schools. An hour drive east will get you in the scenic mountains with rivers for tubing and white water rafting, hiking, etc.

I hope some of this helps.
Becky

I had to laugh to myself that you went to check out Calvary Chapel of Chattanooga.

Since I have been researching places to relocate I normally go into Calvary Chapel's website and look to see if there is one close by. I did notice they had one and listened to the pastor online....LOL. I am not sure if everyone does that sort of thing, it is just important to me for a move.

Last weekend when I was visiting I had gotten lost and turned around across the street from the Calvary Chapel of Chatt. Wow, there it was...LOL. How funny, well too bad it wasn't Sunday! That would have been awesome to join you all in a service.

I was living in NC and attended one there, and now TN, attending one here also.

How do you like the Calvary Chapel of Chattanooga? I saw the video of your mens retreat and it looked like alot of fun. Sounds like that was really important to you also in your move.

I had never heard of Calvary Chapel before I moved to NC, so it was something new to me but now since I have been affiliated with 2 of them, there is no going back to anything else. I feel like I am being fed beyond belief there.

Well, just wanted to voice my opinion and maybe gets yours from Calvary Chattanooga
yes, it's a good place to be for us. DM me if you want to know more.

Default Moving from FL to TN in 2016

Hi,
I hope this reaches your email because this posting is from 3 years ago. Do you still reside in Cleveland?
We have friends in Ooltewah, husband works at VW and tells us many ppl live in Cleveland and commute a few exits to VW. Also our youngest, very bright, wants to become a PA. Do you know about UTC? I hear it's great and not crazy big like UT. But then where would she attend medical program? I don't want Memphis for that. My brother has property, gated comm, water half an hour from Knox but many tell us to stick with Chatt and that there is new housing, new stores, Publix and many are moving to the area. We did spend a week last july, went to the Ocoee and Zip line but it was Very hot! Worse humidity than FL we felt. No beach breeze. Our friends say that all goes away by Sept, cools down.
Are there areas that have cottage feel single homes? 1200-1500' with yard? We are down sizing but don't want to be attached to others like a townhouse or apt.
Thanks for any info you can give. My gf says to check out Cleveland next time we're here. Can you tell me all about Cleveland? Thank you.
