Wow, I didn't realize garbage collectors were in the same league as firefighters, police officers and the men who stormed Normandy. You learn something new everyday I guess.
dont deserve anything extra? obviously you are a 30 something who thinks everyone owes him or her a living sure you pay for it in property taxes and sure tipping is of course optional but and its a very big but dont expect anything extra like when you renovate your yuppie bathroom and want the garbage man to take away all that inconveinent garbage in front of your house im sure where you live there are rules to collecting your garbage you want us to take all that crap outta there cause your having the selfish yuppies over for a party ?then you gotta pay for breaking the rules son .
The garbage men in this town don't deserve to be tipped. Most days I find my cans lying on their side in the street. What's the matter? Were you too hung over to manipulate the crane properly? 30 something? Wow! I'm so totally impressed with your perceptions & experience dealing with people. You should be selling used cars on South Blvd. Its obvious that you missed your true calling in life.

Yeah right. Let's see... You have no idea how to write a sentence, spell or use grammar, but hey you're a garbage man trying to say that you're offended because you don't get a tip. Here's a tip for you, proofread your posts so that people will actually read them rather than just glancing at them & secretly laughing at you.
So you're going to tell me that you go through my trash. Yeah right. So you dump the can in the top of the truck then climb up in the hopper to wade through my trash & fantasize about a life you can never have? You sound nuts to me. You also don't sound like you live in Charlotte. The guys that pick up trash in my area of town never get out of the hopper trucks. When the rear loaders come around every great once in awhile then they wheel the cans to the truck & tip them in the back. There are also guys that come for brush & the recycling guys. So the question then becomes do the hopper truck guys get tipped and not the brush guys, rear feed truck guys & recyclable guys or do they all get tipped? Another point that you've failed to consider is that even when we have to have our cans on the curb by 6am, why is it that y'all don't show up to empty them till mid afternoon? Oh that's right you have 3000 houses to service. Cry me a river...
If you got a good Garbage Man Give them a Tip. The most important job in the city. If you don't think so have your street skip pick up for a month. You will believe.
no im a garbage man i was curious to see how many people tip no matter people will do what they want anyway sure its lucrative and i do find some neat stuff but also you deal with the weather rain snow etc but we know that going in just as a police officer or a fireman knows what they are getting themselves into when they sign up for a good job all of us heroes ??? no the men who stormed normandy are my point is that if you want exceptional service you should tip hey ive had people say to me that they cant afford a tip but they are appreciative about the service we provide thats all

Every job has it's ups and downs. People kill me! I use to waitress and sometimes you don't get tipped; I knew that when I took the job. PICK UP THE DAMN GARBAGE! You get paid enough! Oh and BTW... I got here because I googled "why don't men like to take out the garbage?" Explain that! LMAO!
