Here's the note from my Newscarrier that was left in my Charlotte Observer today:
"It's been my pleasure to deliver your newspaper during this past year. If I have failed to service your needs, please feel free to contact me directly at XXX-XXX-XXXX
I am always thankful for the tips that you have given in the past. Enclosed is a tip envelope for any gratuities that you would care to send fot the holiday season.
Thank you in advance for your generosity. May you and your family have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays"
I personally think this is pretty gutsy. I only receive the weekend paper. I realize that less and less people are having the paper delivered anymore, but think the fact that he inserts this in my paper with an envelope already with his address (and no stamp) is pretty out there.
Have you been happy with the delivery of your paper? If so, and you can afford it, why not give the guy something? So what if it's a little "gutsy". JMHO.
I didn't realize you could only get the paper on the weekends?!?! I am so switching my service! I could've sworn I read on this board that the Observer didn't have that option?
I just have a problem with a newscarrier blatantly asking for a tip.
If I wanted to tip him I would certainly do so without him having to stick a note and an envelope, for my convenience, in my paper to remind me.
Well you posted about this in past years. Did you leave him a tip then?
When I was a kid I had a paper route. You know, old school, on a bike w/ a basket around my neighborhood? And went around knocking on peoples doors to get paid and they ALWAYS tipped me. In fact, I think that was the only way I got paid IIRC. Do they do that anymore?
HA! We'll at least I'm consistent Maybe instead of tipping him I'll go to GNC and buy some Ginko Biloba!
