Sorry ender, if she really wants that she will have to go to those towns, though even Charleston has a seedy side to it. Things are different down here and if she can't adjust to it she'll never be happy. Just a suggestion, ask her to remember that things here will not be exactly like a Norman Rockwell picture, but to know that she will make the most loyal friends and have the greatest neighbors of any place she could ever live.

Just reread your original post - missed this before

" A realtor down there said "well then you shouldn't look in NC." But I don't think that's true. There has to be a quaint town around Charlotte that will meet my parents needs and expectations."

I am here to tell you the realtor gave your parents very good info. Zoning in rural areas of NC is not going to be what you would see in other areas of the country - again some of us think that is a good thing
