We moved here with my job about 5 1/2 years ago. We miss my parents who are still in Wantagh, but we LOVE it here.

The property taxes were crazy there, and were the main reason we started looking elsewhere.

I moved here 7 years ago from Oceanside. I miss Long Island not in the least. As a matter of fact, after going back for a visit, I couldn't wait to get back to Waxhaw. No snow, lower real estate taxes, lots and lots of new construction. What's not to like about NC?

I found the same thing when I went back. Nassau County is becoming just an extension of Queens.

Glad to hear you are liking it as well!

I don't, but I *hated* Long Island.

Things I miss about New York: Italian bakeries, markets, and the ocean. That's it.

The *only* reason I see myself going back there is to visit Family & Friends.

Well said. I miss my parents since they were going to move, then decided to stay. Found good pizza and good bagels. But I have not found a good bakery for pastry type items, and I would kill for some good rolls.

Other than my parents I am not gonna miss anything from that island !!!! It is financially ruining families left and right!!! Every moving company we got estimates from said they are doing 2-3 jobs a week moving people off the island .We on our way !!!! We are moving from Nesconset to Matthews !!!!We will be there the end of this month!!! I am not gonna miss the taxes and high cost of living one bit !!!! The wife just paid the last LIPA Bill and last Petro bill !!!!! TALK ABOUT NOT CORRUPTION !!! From what we heard people miss the pizza and bagels but you know what we found a few good places !!! No more 2 to 3 hours drive home in traffic !!!!
And there are plenty of drag race tracks around !!! I am not gonna miss paying 2 tolls and sitting in traffic for hours to go race !!!
