Really? Hmmm, was up in the 60's for the last few days...but mid 40's is GREAT weather for working around the yard. I actually broke a small sweat cutting and chopping firewood and clearing leaves this last weekend.
Supposed to go back up into the 60's again Wed on. Monitoring temps via my phone app, we've not been that much different than you...in fact, it was colder there a few days ago. lol
And I'm also not sure where you are getting 4 months. Mid March can easily have days in the 60's and 70's. Maybe you are confusing CT with Southern VT.
Easily have days in the 60's and 70's? Umm, not Hartford last year. Only 1 day above 70. 25 of 30 days highs were 40's or lower. Lows in the mid 20's or near 30 the whole month.

you rarely see the sun also in the winter months....cloudy/damp just like the rest of New England. Been there, done that..
By that time people have rediculous cabin fever, sick of the snow, and wont see warm temps for at least another month.
Yeah, sounds great.....
Lies lies lies....It is NOT cloudy and damp in New England as a rule in winter....ack..whats the use, you got it in your head thats what it is so the truth will have no bearing.

Boy, sure feels like a New England winter day today.....my experiences there is about 1/2 and 1/2 (gray skies to sunny days) during the winter in New England...cold, very cold compared to here (mostly Boston as reference). Other than all the snow/cold (which is handled quite nicely exlcuding a big Noreaster) my only gripe is the early sunset.
Here is some info for you data heads to work with:

Thanks for the info. I agree its much colder in winter. I don't however think its as bad as some here make it sound like..you are right, noreasters and the cold snap are rough , but other than that I'll take that over pounding heat any day.

I didn't say "every day".
And anyway, since you are so far north, the sun angle is lower the further north you go, so even on a rare "clear" day in New England in the winter, the sun is so low in the sky that it doesn't "feel" sunny....
That's why those short days are killers the further north you go. Heck, goto New Jersey now and its dark by 5pm. In Hartford it starts getting dark after 4-4:30....Maine you start getting dark by 3:30pm.....that's plain miserable.

3:30 ? ahhhhhh Jack......you love to exaggerate the northern cold and sunlight. What can we do to help you realize that New England is not the North Pole?

Exaggerate? sort of like May-Sept in NC is comparable to the Sahara desert?...had to get that one in there JP.

The measured temperature is objective, but how folks experience that is very subjective. One of my sons LOOOVES to be cold, so a measurement of 72 degrees feels like 95 to him. A measured 72 to me, on the other hand, is near about perfect. And 62 feels like 35 to me.
So while you say "25 days in the 40s! That's cold!" jp might see all those 40s and think, "That's perfect!" Because 42 feels to him like 70 would feel to you.
Well, there's a massive winter storm brewing just in time for the beginning of Dec. Right now, it is near to Pittsburgh, but, creating huge waves and howling winds in Chicago. Just glad that I am not there.....(anywhere close to this thing!) Tom Skilling of WGN news always has the most interesting takes on these things....
