Is this a restaurant?

I have millions of questions: One that comes to mind - How far is Myrtle Beach from CLT? I would guess 3 1/2 - 4 hours?

I'm a Southern guy at heart so getting out of Ohio will be nice. Originally from Kentucky near TN. (don't judge me Tar Heel Fans ) I might have just got myself booted out of here...LOL

Linebergers was awesome wasn't it?

You are from Charlotte, if I remember correctly? Then you may remember the Amber House restaurant on N. Tryon. That particular location closed and after some time passed, they went into "partnership" (as I understand) with the Lineberger family and opened Amberjack.

The food is good there. I can't eat seafood but my best half loves it. And the steaks there are still pretty good.

The candy counter is no where near as large as it was when it was Lineberger's.

Any good breakfast food close to the Uptown Marriot? Why do you guys call it uptown anyways? Just curious?

Is there any bad areas I should stay away from? N, nw,w,sw,south,se,east and north east?

Yes it was, even the atmosphere. I still remember Mrs Lineberger in that glass booth who would call out over the microphone where your table was located, "B - 4", the tip boxes, the glass windows where you could see all the fryers, and the all candy.

Interesting this is where the Amber House ended up. I don't blame them for leaving N. Tryon given what has happened there over the last 25 years. We might have to head down there soon to give it a try.

Tuesday nights is all you can eat crab legs, if you enjoy that (market price).
The clam chowder is awesome DH says IF the owner is cooking it. You can ask who is making it that day, that is what he does.

Our favorite server there is Kim, she is a doll and always takes care of us.

We haven't been on a Sunday yet but I understand the buffet is incredible.

And yes! I remember that glass box. Do you remember Stowe's fish camp?

Last year the Charlotte Observer did a contest finding the quickest way to Myrtle Beach. I've been going since the late 60's and your guess of 3.5 hours is pretty close but there are many ways to go from Charlotte. I've done it in less than 3 hours.

One of the biggest treasures in the USA is Charleston, SC (closer and easier drive from Charlotte). I highly recommend a weekend there once you get settled. Take a buggy tour or just park the car and walk.

BTW, my sister (originally from Charlotte) lives in Columbus now. Been there 15 years and she really likes it. I visit her often and I like Columbus too. Columbus has a much better road system than Charlotte's mish-mash layout. Once you learn Charlotte, it makes sense but most newcomers find it difficult to navigate.

Swampfoxer,

Do you drive to Columbus? If so, how long does it usually take you? We are driving down when we come this weekend.

Columbus is not a horrible place just not a good fit for us. I hate the Winter time up here.
