As a fan of football and someone who used to live in NY I am aware of his name and the short-lived hype (1 season) that he had. If you are neither you do not know who he is. PERIOD!!
THEREFORE HE IS NOT A CELEBRITY.
AGAIN -
What endorsements does/did he have?
How many commercials has he been in?
So because you lived in NY and googled his name that makes you the authority??? While you may not think he is worthy of the status the fact still remains he is a professional athlete. That is the appropriate "title" for him.

So all professional athlete's are celebrities - good grief.

So Brandon Pettigrew is a celebrity?
I didn't call him a celebrity.......
However when one is a professional athlete, actress, talk show host etc.....
in the general public they are considered a celebrity. That point can't be
argued.
Has been on Oprah, The View, Leno, Arli$$, Carson, O'Reilly, Hollywood Squares, ET, Wheel of Fortune, etc, but not a celebrity?
So folks that are on Oprah, The View, Leno, Arli$$, Carson, O'Reilly, Hollywood Squares, ET, and Wheel of Fortune are celebrities? OK
It's called drumming up interest to gain celebrity status. It's a part of the entertainment industry. Everyone "in" the entertainment industry who strives to gain media exposure is not a celebrity - because they have not yet hit celebrity status. They are striving. Going on these show's for (Sehorn) is striving. It does not equate to celebrity status. If a pro-athelete has endorsement deals, does commercials, etc.. he or she is more than likely hitting celebrity status.
But to each his/her.
We all have different levels of exposure in life. Some of us have been exposed to more in life than others, due to where we live and have lived. If your life is Charlotte then so be it - Sehorn and Harmon are big time
Even those morons on the Jersey Shore are considered "celebrities" —*it basically means if you're in the public eye and your name is recognized. Granted there are lots of people who don't know what the hell a "snooki" is and they should be proud of that.
Paris Hilton is a celebrity. Why? She hasn't done anything to contribute to society other than be on a bad reality show and make a home movie. Same with Kim Kardashian. Yet they are celebrities too.
If Jason Sehorn isn't one, what is the requirement. Surely he has done more of note than any of the people I just mentioned.

Celebrity status = national or global recognition. Like Youtube hits. Like Facebook having 500Million users. Get it.
Is this thread seriously happening? Is this real life?
