Honestly, if you can live thru a Texas summer you can make it in NC without a problem

NOTHING in the US is worse than Lousiana and Texas in the summer if you ask me. Sure NC gets humidity, but it's usually not more than about 65%. You can tolerate 95 degree days when the humidity is not 90%

Usually the worst weeks are late July to late August, though this year was an exceptionally hot summer and the heat started earlier and lasted well into September.

I have never found winters tough to deal with in Charlotte. Though the nighttime temps can dip into the teens in January/February the days always pop back up into the high 30's at least.

I lived in Charlotte after Miami. From what I've heard Houston is similar as far as humidity to Miami. Miami never reaches 100 and rarely gets above 95 but it is consistently 90 and TONS of humidity. People say Charlotte is humid. Maybe in August or after a storm but Charlotte is humid like Austin is not like Houston or Miami. But Charlotte is cooler than almost anyplace in Texas. Basically June it begins to get uncomfortable. July is in the low 90s and somewhat humid. August tends to be slight cooler in temp than July but more humid. September is usually beautiful. This summer was longer than most but usually the miserable weather last 2.5 months and your done with it. So I think you could handle it coming from Houston.

We were pleasantly surprised since we just spent our first summer in Dallas and it was easier than in Charlotte. It was humid on occasion but mostly it was much drier than the 5 summers I spend in Charlotte. Again...this was Dallas, not Houston. This also was the 2nd hottest on record for Texas!

I was in Dallas from Sept 10 to Sept 12 and the humidity was alot worse than Charlotte. Not sure if it was just that weekend. You will eventually get used to the humidity.

Im 18 and live in Charlotte but I visit TX every summer and winter for family. I stay in Nixon, TX which is about halfway between San Antonio and Houston. From what I notice, Charlotte weather is hot and somewhat humid while TX around where I stay is a little hotter and more dry. Yeah it'll reach like 95 in Charlotte, but it will probably be around 100 to 105 at the same time in TX. It feels much hotter in TX because the sun is just bearing down on us all day. Once I walked out into the sun from the shade in TX, i started to sweat in 5 mins (NO LIE).

I also know someone that lives in Houston, and whenever she tells the temp there.. its about the same as Charlotte (probably with 2 to 8 degrees higher).

Over the past few years I have noticed that the summers are tending to feel the same though....

The winters are completely different. As many times as Ive been in TX, the winters have only reached no lower than 25 degrees F. Charlotte, Ive seen as low as 5 degrees F, if I am remembering correctly. Charlotte winters are colder with more chances of precip, IMO.

Hope that helps.

Houston is more in line with New Orleans and Jacksonville. Under normal conditions, Charlotte is a bit cooler in the summers and has a little less humidity. At least Charlotte gets more of a break in the Fall, Winter (which I enjoy) and Spring. Weatherwise, I prefer Charlotte.

I lived in Houston for 19 yrs before moving to the Charlotte area about 2 yrs ago. The first two years we were here we had cool summers, with mid 80's for the highs in August. This past summer was much hotter and more in line with the norm. The 90's have lasted into September. It is humid here, but it's still more humid in Houston. We were in Houston this past July and I swear it was like walking in pea soup. On average, the temperature in Charlotte is about 5-10 degrees cooler than Houston.

The first two winters we were here were cold. We had a couple of snows, but then again so did Houston. Overall, it is colder up here, but not miserable. Hope this helps!

I also lived in Houston for about 3 years and would say the summers there were still worse than what I've experienced in 2 years of living in the Charlotte metro. This past summer was pretty bad here but Houston still gets my vote for the nastier summer!

I'm pretty sure the summer humidity in Charlotte isn't even as bad as the spring in Houston, yuck! Like someone said above, if you can live through Houston's humidity, you can take Charlotte's. It just lasts a few months here.
