Hi all,
We are looking to relocate next spring to Charlotte. We currently live in the Tampa Bay area, and I am wondering how the summers compare? I work mostly outdoors, and this June has been brutal for me. I leave the house at 6 am and want to run back inside. The heat is unreal. I noticed your dew points are constantly 10 degrees less then by us. Any info would be great, Thanks!
Brian

We're about 10 degrees cooler than the Tampa Bay area.

I lived in Orlando for a few months, so based on my somewhat limited knowledge, it is much, much more bearable here. There are a few days where the heat takes your breath away, but nothing like the heat I've experienced in Florida. Not nearly as humid either.

Exactly. I've traveled to Florida a lot for work over the years and what coastalgirl says is pretty much spot on.

Plus, the beaches on the NC coast are much less oily.

If you can overlook the crowds, tourons & bubbleheads, the surly residents, the monster bugs, world ending hurricanes, mold on everything and daily storms, I think South Florida has more moderate temperatures during summer than Charlotte.

moderate? lol It is more sticky in Florida. Summer is Florida off season because of the heat
and odds of a Hurricane are greater. Charlotte hasnt had a significant Hurricane
in 20 years.. Florida not so much.
Florida is great for a winter home since it mostly mild.
You will find alot of Florida snowbirds in the mountains.

I went down to Florida one 4th of July week I was burnt in 15 minutes.

I lived in Tampa for 8 years, and the heat is definitely not as bad here in Charlotte.

We moved from St. Pete almost three years ago and it definitely is much more lilvable here. It took my kids a while to get used to the fact that they could play outdoors in the summer and it did not have to be at a pool! Some very warm days but not for 8 months of the year!!

We moved here from St Pete about 2 1/2 yrs ago.. It is warm here but def not as hot as FL. much more bearable.. here we actually walk everywhere instead of jumping from the house, in the car, in the store like we did in FL. plus at night it cools down real nice so that you can actually be outside without being all sticky...
