I am thinking about my 1st summer in the Charlotte area with my 10 and 7 year old. Does anyone have camps, parks, activities or other things to recommend?

Charlotte Parent magazine ( online at Charlotteparent.com ) has lots of camps and other activies listed. You can often pick up a free print copy. The camp issue usually comes out in February, but the listings will be online as well.

Children's Theater camps are great, for all types of kids. But, they are expensive and fill early.
Consider a Carowinds Pass IF you think you will take them more than once. Remember that there is a water park there.
If you have a YMCA membership, remember that you can visit any area YMCA 3 times per month, free of charge. Make us of that and head to the Ys with water parks.
Discovery Place has good camps. as does the nature museum. If you are home with your kids, those are also good day trips.
Early morning, go to Latta and take them horseback riding.
Even with the cuts, Imaginon has stuff going on once in awhile, as do other libraries...espcially regional ones. Imaginon has the added benefit of being uptown...so you can ride the trolly, go to Brixx for lunch and people watch all while out and about.

The above are all things I did with my kids in the summer at that age...all fun. Oh and now you can add the Whitewater Center!

Enjoy!
