Poor kitty. I'm so sorry Harls is failing. Give him a pet for me.

Try Fancy Feast Classics (the pate kind) and add water to make cat soup. This will also help with dehydration. I thought subQs would be traumatizing, but all my sickly cats took to it quite readily, and always felt immediately better - especially in the appetite department. I'm not suggesting every day, but it might be enough to get him over this hump.

HyperT does mask the kidney problems. We got our boy treated with radioactive iodine because he got a terrible reaction to the meds. That uncovered the kidney issue, which we have ben dealing with for almost 5 years.

I would consider upping the meds for Harls to combat the hyperT and stuffing him with whatever food he will eat. Personally, I'd rather pass of kidney failure with a cupcake in my mouth than deal with the discomfort associated with being too skinny. Have a heart to heart with his vet and see which would provide the best quality of life.
