Since steak is out of the question I pulled out some sliced roast beef that is in gravy for hot roast beef sandwiches that we froze up a while back when we had a nice piece of roast beef and sliced it. It's been in the freezer for awhile but looks fine and taste good. It's about as close to steak as we're going to get in this house. I heated it up, added some more gravy, cut the slices into bite size pieces and am letting is soak to moisten it all up now. I think a hint of sage will give it a nice flavor. I think that over mashed potatoes with a slice of bread with some veggies will be good. I use to enjoy cooking years ago when my family enjoyed eating what I made--loved making them happy and keeping them healthy at the same time but when I married my DH he was so picky it was not fun anymore. Kids grew up and it was just DH and myself and we ate out a lot...now we can't do that. Trying to figure out something that will taste good and DH can actually swallow is very hard for me now. Meal time is my least favorite time of the day.

Cyn, does he like mushrooms? Here's a real simple one: take a can of Campbell's cream of mushroom soup, a can of their French onion soup, mix them together with 1 can of water, then toss in some frozen meatballs, leftover cooked roast beef or browned (loose) hamburger. Let them simmer for a bit, then serve over noodles or mashed 'taters. It's stroganoff for po' folk.
Um...you can use sweet taters to make mashed taters for a change of pace. Serve with sliced turkey or chicken in gravy.
how about swiss steak? brown a cheap cut of beef, then let simmer in stewed tomatoes till the steak is tender.
Beautiful picture elston. Thank you!
Good Morning everyone.
Very worried about my DH breathing again--had trouble all evening....like he has Flem in his throat...we are suppose to be getting a cough assistance machine--hope that helps. But that's not until next week. We are also suppose to go and fill out that paper work for advanced directive health care decisions..that is really bothering my DH--- I don't know what to tell him except lots of people do that at all ages---but then in his condition I think it scares him. Anyhow somehow both appointments got made on the same day, Wed of next week, but I think the cough assist machine is the most important right now. I can reschedule the other appointment with the Social Worker for a later date. We have to drive to Charlotte to see her..ugh! So once again I have a lot on my mind.
I confess Cyn, spiders get killed in my house, as it seems I have so many and flies, ants, scorpions and centipedes are curtains but I will save a cricket. I would save worms if we had any but I don't see them around these parts. I love my bunny rabbits. We have had allot of bunnies this year.

Cyn, we did ours when we first got married and we were in our early 40's then.
Take care.
