We’ve put out a series of guidelines that are very well delineated. We do need to be patient and careful, but we need to proceed both to try and suppress the virus and to get back to normality. "

Fauci has changed his opinion a number of times. The WHO just came out and said asymptomatic spread of COVID-19 is rare, where before it was said asymptomatic people could spread it. You have to wonder if opinions keep changing because this is new or because they don’t know what they’re talking about.

To me they lost all credibility with the silence on the protests, lack of action or encouragement of the protests.

I haven't heard about that. He's had to deal with Trump changing his opinion about the virus multiple times, though.

The W.H.O. is a whole different story; they've lost a lot of credibility.

I can chalk some of this up to this being a new virus, but it seems like there’s a lot of information coming out that contradicts what they said at first.

If there is a second wave, they need to make some serious changes on how they handle it.

"People shouldn't be walking around with masks. There's no reason to be walking around with a mask. When you're in the middle of an outbreak, wearing a mask may make people feel better, and it may even block a droplet, but it's not providing the protection that people think it is." - Dr. Fauci, 60 Minutes

^^

"Despite the (revised face mask) guidance, dubious Facebook pages and groups — some of which advocate alternative medicines, conspiracy theories and anti-vaccination messages — have been recently circulating an outdated recommendation on the use of face masks. The pages are sharing a March 8 video clip from CBS’ “60 Minutes” showing Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, saying: “There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask.”

But at that point in early March, the CDC recommended conserving face masks, which were in short supply, for health care workers and those who had COVID-19 and were showing symptoms. So, Fauci gave an answer that was in line with CDC recommendations at that time."

KFI just said California may have opened too soon...numbers rapidly going up in OC/LA counties...wear masks when you cannot socially distance to protect public health.

Are cops giving tickets for not wearing a mask? From my understanding it's not being enforced by law enforcement so the requirement is meaningless

Not being enforced in OC (don't know about LA).

The Sheriff in OC actually understands how scams work due his long and illustrious law enforcement career having to deal with scammers and all sort of pettifogger such as your average Branch Covidian.

This isn't the first time they've sounded the alarm and been wrong about any of the corona-cousin viruses to emerge in the last decade or so. At the risk of repeating myself, they pushed a lot of doom and gloom over MERS which never materialized in the U.S. but I get it; the prediction models are anything but predictable.

The salient point in your link is this:

Quote:

All of the experts said it was not that the W.H.O. is wrong on all counts, but that given the implications of its statements, it should be more cautious in concluding that transmission by air or by people without symptoms is not significant.
“We don’t know,” Dr. Milton said. “But they also don’t know.”
Some experts said that when the W.H.O. uses the phrase “there is no evidence” to indicate uncertainty, it is in fact conveying certainty about the absence of a phenomenon.
That last sentence... uh, ok.
