The 198 process has been going on for almost 15 years. I totally understand and agree with the residents BUT, they need to realize that this Billion has an expiration date and dragging this out for 15+ years, like the 198 will kill it. Governor Hochul, the first Buffalo governor in 100+ years, may not be around in 15 years and a downstate pol will have much less interest in the happenings of WNY
Related to the last post, the state rep mentions in the interview that a similar plan for the Cross Bronx Expressway is also on the table. So, that is where the funding would go, if it the plan doesn't get done in Buffalo(which I think it is a matter of when, not if).

It is way too early to say that and would be speculation. This is why I think actually listening to community based information about the project is important.
I think both projects will get done, to be honest.

This all conjecture at this point. This will be going on for many years.
Buffalo News:
"The redesign of the Scajaquada Expressway, Route 198, began in the early 2000s. The DOT wanted to repair aging infrastructure. Others wanted to address the harm done when the roadway separated Delaware Park from neighborhoods."
"The DOT is preparing to advance the Scajaquada proposal, unveiled in January, to the design and review phase. Meetings have continued with stakeholders, and $110 million for the project remains safeguarded in the State Transportation Improvement Program.
This is still going on 15 years later. The Kensington will be lucky to be done before 2040 if it goes forward at all.
I was of the impression that this was universally wanted, but I guess not.
Interesting how much influence the unions have
