This is a big damned deal. International culinary conference comes to Birmingham. And with it comes the international foodie press.

^ pretty cool quote:

“Birmingham has become one of the three major food media hubs,” she said. “Birmingham is really on the move as an important spot food-wise, and not just for Southern food, but for food.”

I think the city needs to keep leaning into this identity. I think things like the Jones Valley Teaching Farm are cool additional things the city can do to build the food ecosystem.

This is really exciting, because 2020 (COVID) really hammered our restaurant industry and the flagship group, the Stitt group. Highlands is still not opened to my understanding, and the Bottegas have combined. I look forward to this re-energizing the industry!

GOLF Magazine names Highland Park Golf Course to its 30 best U.S. municipal golf courses list

i've never swung a club in my life, but there's some good company here (Bethpage Black and Torrey Pines).

and GOLF Magazine is a pretty legitimate publication.

"The oldest course in Alabama has roots on this site dating back to 1903, but the most recent renovation in 2020 lifted Highland Park to new heights thanks to new bunkers and greens. Don’t be fooled by the 5,800-yard, par-70 scorecard: elevation changes, creeks, lakes and plenty of movement on the small greens make the course play longer than you might think, while not robbing the design of any of its quirky fun. Three par-3s measure 136 yards or less, and for better players, there are a handful of drivable par-4s and reachable par-5s. A new back tee at the downhill par-4 15th sits on the property’s high point and provides a memorable view of the downtown skyline."

Eh, that's just a small taste of what the city has to offer. For starters, you gotta get up one morning and do battle on 280, then try to make it somewhere south of town during evening rush on 31.
There's others, but that's a good start. Blowing through on 65 doesn't allow for the full experience.
