I thought Lebron was a better athlete due to how fast he can move at 270lbs.

But, the Olympic's made me go back and watch the gold medal game from 1984.

The way Jordan was getting up and down the court at age 21 is very impressive.

I think that Jordan was the better athlete. For his size LeBron can move very well but he isnt very fluid. Watch older tapes of Jordan to see how fluid and smooth he moved.

Lebron is 250lbs (official NBA). Shaq was 300lbs when he joined the league and Lebron is *nowhere* near that size.

I have a hard time accepting that *anybody* in the NBA is a better athlete than Jordan.
Equal, yeah there have been some.

Keep in mind that a lot of Jordan footage is from when he was even over 30 and at that time his game was this complete balance of perfection. Early on in his career he more often just beat people with sheer athleticism.

For their size, I'd think about putting Shaq over LEbron. Ever seen Shaq breakdance back when he was in his early 20's and weighed >300lbs. My jaw hit the floor.

Tough question, each have advantages. Lebron is faster baseline to baseline, he can gain some incredible momentum once he hits his stride. Jordan had faster reflexes, more agile, better in-air control, and was a more versatile jumper; while Lebron is a one-legged jumper and it does seem like he's on a pogo stick when he can get some momentum and them launch off one-leg, Jordan could go off one or two legs well which allowed for more creative forays to the basket and dunks. Note that for all Lebron's leaping ability he has a pretty limited array of dunks( in-game anyways). Young Kobe, for instance, didn't get off the ground nearly as high but his in-game dunk repertoire is more impressive IMO than Lebron's.

Plus he weighs 50lbs more than Jordan...

And looks more muscular than Karl Malone...

Jordan was more than 200lbs most of his career. Furthermore, I think Jordan is the better athlete. He was much quicker than LeBron is; Jordan had the quickest first step that I had ever seen. I would also give him the nod in an all out sprint. That's pretty impressive for a guy that's 6'6. He was also much more agile, changing direction, stopping on a dime, slicing thru the lane. Also, Karl Malone was a lot bigger and stronger than LeBron, just not as athletic.

I'm watching Usain Bolt run right now and asking myself is Lebron the best athlete at these olympics.
