That's about two hundred bucks in shop labor for the 95% of car owners who are unable to do it themselves for any of various reasons. For what used to be a visible and accessible part that could be changed with a screw driver by anyone who can change a vacuum cleaner bag. Shop labor is a hundred an hour for the trivial and the rocket science alike.

I thought all fuel in a particular region was the exact same, no matter which station its at or what oil brand its labelled under, its ALL still from the same 'batch/ source', so there really isnt any cheap gas, or watered down gas.

Well, that's pretty close to mine. I had the shop do it via cash. $225 for the pump, then $150 labor. Best part? The fuel pump croaked after 10 months (Had a 2 year warranty) so I had it towed to the shop, they replaced it, apologized and said "No charge" I asked how that could be as labor wasn't covered. The guy said "I have a good relationship with the parts company and they pride themselves in selling the best, they'll make me whole"

Sure enough, they coughed up for the labor!LOVE that shop!
