Why would you want either of those gas guzzling rollover traps?
"Rollover traps"...that's a funny one. I've been driving fullsize Yukons and Suburbans for years and I drive them much harder than the average SUV owner will. I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but I've never rolled one. Yeah, they're going to be more prone to rolling over than most other vehicles, but that's simple common sense physics. There are plenty of smaller SUVs out there that have much higher rollover rates that Escalades and Navigators and their lesser counterparts.
But I digress.
The real question here is why do YOU care what someone else wants to drive? You don't have to foot the bill for it, so move along.
I would remind you that the prices on these gas hogs are unrealistic if they have not be adjusted because of the recent huge price increase for gasoline.Of course the dealers wont mention this....

I do not follow what you are saying. The price of new luxury SUVs has been constant or climbing. The value of all SUVs took a dip during the first gas crisis, but because of that most people that owned them just had to hang on to them until demand went up. That included both the owners who couldn't afford the negative equity to trade and the dealers who had them sitting on their lot. The price of gas affects all of us consumers and sellers through supply and demand.
Look, some people can afford to keep an SUV fuelled. The OP has made his mind up (or perhaps more appropriately, his wife has!) asked not to be scolded about his choice, so if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say nothin' at all.
Between the choices, I'd go with the Escalade. The difference in terms of the construction, interior materials, road feel, etc. between the 'Slade and the Navigator is leaps and bounds. The Navigator feels about ten years behind the curve compared to the Escalade.
Personally, I'd go for a Navigator. IF I wanted to have the best in luxury I'd go for an Escalade, but to compromise, I'd go for top of the line Expedition or maybe a size down, like GMC Yukon Denali?
The Lincoln Navigator is most impressive, looks better and have great equipments.
The Cadillac Escalade is the most expensive, and has more power towing capacities.
The GMC Yukon Denali has got almost all equipments of the escalade; is the less expensive and doesn't have enough looks to shine like a real luxury SUV.
