I can give you several reasons why:

- weather : perfect Mediterranean climate
- safe neighborhoods, some parts of SoCal are rated the safest in the nation despite being in a major metro
- geographical diversity - snow capped Mountains, we have the highest point in the lower 48 (Mt. Whitney at 14500 ft) and Death Valley, the lowest point in North America
- Las Vegas just a 4 hr drive away
- Great beaches a drive away but also world class ski resorts within a few hrs drive away
- very diverse population base with various ethnicities unlike ATL which is primarily black

Number of minutes of my life in which I wish I lived in California: Zero

Though I have heard people talk about California as if it is some sort of promised land. Not sure why. Any place that constantly has earthquakes, bush fires, droughts, and mud slides means that god is trying to tell you something. Ok, so it barely rains and it's a low humidity sunny day most days of the year. Whoopie do.

Please lol. California beaches are way overrated because the water is cold. You say Atlanta is mostly blk well California is mostly illegal mexicans. Vegas gets old after 3 days. I agree about the weather and mountains but that isn't enough to make me leave this great city. Every city has very safe neighborhoods including Detoilet and New Orleans. All and all I'm sure most people think their city is perfect. At least our ethnicities get along with each other unlike in California where the Mexicans are killing all the blacks.

There's more Californians moving to metro Atlanta than the other way around. The Smyrna/Vinings area in which I live is covered with California license plates. In a lot of ways, metro Atlanta is booming in the way California did decades ago. But metro Atlanta still has a lot of trees. I consider San Fran and LA pretty cool and much more hip still, but Atlanta is much more pretty, more cost-effective, growing faster, and has a lot of fortune 500 companies, a startup scene, music scene, and a lot of jobs still.

The only thing I don't like in metro ATL is the politics of rural state vs big city.

And yes, the beaches are much better within 5 hours of Atlanta than anything in Cali. Brrrrr - pacific water. Please, no wetsuits. Not necessary in Florida or S. Carolina.

Btw, why is everyone feeding the troll?

I experience San Diego for 8 years via the Marines Corp, It took me about two years to adjust to the culture, but I absolutely love it. California beauty is amazing. I would definitely go back.
