I lived in Fairfax County. They were aware of pedestrians, alright. I used to watch in disbelief as DC drivers would play 'chicken' with them in crosswalks and even nudging them if they thought they weren't moving fast enough. That's not something I've seen here.
Atlanta drivers are no picnic, but I'm not buying into the idea that DC drivers are oh-so-much-better.
