Bush won by 10 points in the 2004 election for AZ. Do you think the AZ will go republican again next year?

Arizona will always go red. People should realize that social security is welfare and people on welfare shouldn't be alowed to vote. That's all I have to say.

So that means everyone that has paid in to social security will be on welfare at some point in their lives? At 65 you should lose your voting right?

With all the SoCals who moved in, I believe AZ will NOT go red, it will be a blue state. Things change, AZ is no longer cowboy country.

What's the difference between social security and welfare?

Will the 16 and 17 year old kids working their first jobs today ever see a dime of their payments to social security when they are 65?

Who should have more of a say in the future of their country? A kid who has 67 more years to live in this country or a 67 year old RV enthusiat living off of your taxes?

Why do people keep voting republican when it does them no good?

Yeah they will. You have to remember that the huge demographic wave of babyboomers that is going to impact SS so severly won't last forever. As we begin to die, the outlay for us will begin to go away as well, and the next generation is MUCH smaller so it's will not draw nearly so much. Since that time the population growth rate is much more modest (from what I've seen it looks like it''s generally at about 1%/year). People critical of SS almost never mention that fact. There are pressures on SS - mostly because the SS fund - which was supposed to be off-limits - has been looted over and over again in order to secure more money for the general fund. Had that money not been withdrawn from SS we might not even have had a shortage problem - but of course the money was withdrawn, so now we do have a problem. Still, it's managable with some (admittedly painful and unpopular) adjustments to benefits. SS is not going to go away. Way too many folks depend on it.

And, as I mentioned, the "problem" of the great big stampede of us babyboomers won't last forever.

Ken

With both McCain and Kyl championing illegal immigration, how much worse can the Democrats be?
