This is why I say this forum does not represent the majority of views of Arizona residents or others in how they view Arizona. And this is not some random poll. This is a Harris Interactive poll which is one of the more reputable polls.

Notwithstanding its economic and political problems, more Americans would like to live in California than in any other state. For the seventh time in a row since 2002 California tops the list of states where the most people would like to live if they did not live in their own states. The next most popular states are Hawaii, Florida, Colorado, Arizona, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, New York and Washington.

I agree with California and Hawaii, but that is it.

Ah, the baby boomers are coming! That's actually a good thing, it looks like things are getting back to how they once were. We are designed for the older crowds and they end up being very happy. I think this is a good thing, and hopefully they are like minded politically which will ensure their happiness.
Nice to see!

I was thinking the same thing looking at the detail in the link - AZ is a big hit with the dying Boomer generation. I was bemoaning that until I got to thinking that, for the US, tending to the needs of aging Boomers is one of the few areas we have left that can't be outsourced. So maybe the retiree influx will bring a little bump in our economy and buy us a little time before the inevitable.

Not quite true ysr_racer.

We visited many times before deciding to move here from California.

Many of the people retiring here and relocating here have visited during the summer to check it out. Not all, but most.

This area has a lot going for it, especially the weather. Go through a few months of hot weather and you look forward to 8 months of perfect weather.

Agreed that the AZ summer is not for everyone. Many people live here the 8 months and go live somewhere else for the summer.

Others live elsewhere and come here for the winter to get away from their harsh winters in the north.

Not surprised whatsoever. Arizona is a beautiful state... a top tourist destination... wonderful weather (fall through spring in the lower elevations, and summer in the upper elevations)... one of the most desired places to retire....

Sounds about right. Although, I don't think we have any political problems. Other people may have problems with our politics but the majority of us in AZ don't.

Well said; however, the article states that California has economic and political problems, which I agree with....

Everyone that I know that lives out of state is jealous I live in AZ, except for some of those back home in So Cal. There's a vocal minority that like to come on here in the hopes of influencing 1-2 people from moving here, out of the 100,000 annually that actually move here. Seems like a fruitless battle and a complete waste of time. I have noticed that since the whole SB1070 thing started, detractors from out of state hate everything Arizona, and there has been an increase in negative posters pretending to be concerned.
