9. Sol Kitchen
City: Delray Beach, FL
Category: Restaurants
Telephone: (561) 921-0201
Address: 4 East Atlantic Ave.
Description: Sol Kitchen is rather an interesting restaurant. Across the street from historic Old School Square, it’s a colorful restaurant with a lively atmosphere, seating both indoors and out, and a very cool bar. Chef Ryan Brown is a South Florida native, which means he grew up with Caribbean and Latin specialties, as well. Emphasizing local and seasonal ingredients, he creates innovative dishes. The pan-roasted Rhode Island mussel with melted habanero-lime butter will start your evening off with a definite kick. Patrons also love his So-Cal fish taco with shredded cabbage, tomato, and lime as a starter. Popular entrees include crispy pork milanese with heirloom tomatoes, romaine hearts, and pineapple mojo; and grilled local dolphin with yucca fries, avocado, and cilantro.

City: Delray Beach, FL
Category: Restaurants
Telephone: (561) 272-5678
Address: 106 South Swinton Ave.
Description: Ambience is everything at the Sundy House. It’s a majestic old Florida house, in the Victorian style, with 11 guest rooms, lush gardens, and a freshwater, fish-filled pool in which you can actually swim. It’s also one of South County’s best places to eat. The chefs whip up sensory sensations that are treats for the eyes as well as the palate, such as Marsala poached pears with cranberry goat cheese, candied walnuts, and truffled honey. Or vanilla bean crème brûlée, with chantilly cream and fresh berries. Or the pumpkin trio—pumpkin flan, spiced shortbread cookie, and pumpkin ice cream with dulce de leche sauce. Need we say more?
